"Follow me! I'll lead you to the house!" Hop said, a bit too loudly to were a couple of people looked over. Harlan nodded, and they both started walking, their Pokémon following them. Hop started informing her of the different places in Galar and of the upcoming gym challenge, which gave you a shot at becoming champion. He asked her if she would do it with him, and she responded in an uncertain tone.
"Well, here's the thing, I've done the Island Trials back in Alola, which gives you a shot at becoming champion, but you didn't have to. Here, I'm just worried that if I happened to become champ, I'll decide to move back to Alola or somewhere else and have no idea what to do." She said.
"Could you just try it with me? If you don't like it, you can stop at any time," Hop suggested. He walked up to a beige house with a red roof and opened the door. "Hey, mum! We're back!" He announced, and they both called their Pokémon back into their Pokéballs.
A lady with purple hair like Hop's walked up to them and shook Harlan's hand. "Hello, I'm Hop's mother. You're welcome to stay here as long as you like."
"Thank you," Harlan said. Hop's mom then turned to him.
"Leon called and said he'd be home later today," Hop cheered, but Harlan looked at the ground, confused. Leon? Where have I heard that name before?  Harlan's head snapped up.
"Wait a minute! You're the champion's brother?!"
Hop looked at his temporary roommate and nodded with a huge grin on his face. "Well, should have guessed since you look so alike." Hop's mom continued talking to them.
"We're also preparing a barbecue for your brother coming home." She walked away to probably prepare for the barbecue and Hop took Harlan's hand to show her around the house and where she'd be staying.
Once he finished showing her around, they went to calm down in Hop's room. "Hey Harlan, can I ask you a couple of questions?" Hop asked.
"Sure, lay em' on me."
"Well, where'd you get the scar on your lip? And why are the red rings around your eyes so big?"
Harlan flinched at the second question. "Uhh, the scar on my lip is from me falling when I was younger and the rings are from something I'll tell you about later." She pulled out her Rotom Phone and looked at her reflection. Why are they so big? Shadow, what are you doing?  She looked back up at Hop, who looked at her with a confused look on his face.
"Erm, anyway, what kind of Pokémon do you have with you? The only one I've seen is the dragon that was with you."
"Yeah, that's my Gabite, Jetstream, one of my partners. I'll probably show the rest of my team at the barbecue later."

~~Timeskip~~

"Knock knock!" Someone said, bursting through the door.
"Come on, Harlan! That probably Lee!" Hop yelled as he and Harlan raced downstairs to see who was at the door.
"Hey, Hop!" The guy at the door hugged Hop, then looked behind him and saw Harlan. "Is this the new roommate mum was talking about?" Leon asked, not even looking unnerved at Harlan's eyes.
"Yep, that's me! Nice to meet you," Harlan said, holding out her hand.
Leon shook her hand and Hop piped up, "How did you not get lost on the way here, Lee? You're pants with directions." Lee rolled his eyes with a smile and retorted with
"Is there any reason you're still holding onto Harlan's hand?"
Harlan blushed, let go of Hop's hand, and averted her eyes from the purple-haired man and Hop turned a bright red and looked away. "I'm just joking! Anyway, hope you guys don't mind, but I invited the gym leaders to the barbecue too."
"Really?!" Hop said "That means we can meet them! Aren't you excited Harlan?"
"O-oh, uh, yeah! That'll be pretty cool" Harlan said, nervously thinking. Why did Leon ask that question? I should be worrying about the gym leaders. What will they say about my eyes? Should I show them Shadow? Would they even talk to me after seeing my eyes?
