Can you cry forever?
Obviously not, but minutes can turn into hours and hours to days, days to years and years to centuries.
Time simply is an illusion created by the human mind, so it truly would be impossible for one to truly note how long they have cried. Maybe seconds are much longer than we believe, and minutes are even longer. Perhaps this is all rambling, or maybe of the upmost importance. It is all decided by the human mind.
I suppose one will never know.
Marzia closed her notebook, sighing and leaning back on the bed, listening to the clock tick in a steady rhythm. After Felix left and the nurse as well, she had cried to what had seemed like forever. She hadn't a clue as to what had come over her. Perhaps this man had struck something insider her- a memory, or something to make her feel this way. All she knew was that she wanted to see him again. Learn more about him. He was, after all, the only person she could seem to remember after all this time since the accident. Maybe they knew each other from long ago.
Marzia turned her head and stared out the window, watching as the morning sunbeams danced through the trees and on the water and over rooftops. She wondered still about this 'Felix'. He was confusing. Seeing him in both places was seemingly impossible to her, the idea was mad. A click pulled her away from her thoughts as the door to her room opened, the nurse coming in with a breakfast tray, setting it on Marzia's lap.
"I never asked you, how did yesterday go with Mr. Kjellberg?" the nurse questioned, sitting down in a nearby chair.
Marzia sighed and gave a slight shrug. "He was... confusing, to say the least," Marzia replied. "He also said he would come back today."
"Would you like him to?" the nurse asked. "If not I can dismiss him when he arrives."
"No," Marzia said. "I need to see him again... you know of my two worlds as well, nurse. He's the only person I remember from the past, and the only person to appear in both worlds. He told me he was real. I still don't know what to believe, but I would like to see him again."
The nurse nodded and stood up, walking towards the door. She placed her hand on the doorknob but then turned around. "Anything else you need?" Marzia shook her head. "Thank you," she said as the nurse walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her.
Marzia ate the food on the tray, ten setting it aside to read more of The Peculiar Life of a Lonely Postman to pass the time. It wasn't long before she closed the book, setting it aside as she watched the clock, waiting for this 'Felix'. After what seemed like an eternity, the door opened once more, the man walking into the room with an envelope in his hands.
"Hello, Marzia," he said with a warm smile, sitting down in a nearby chair.
"Good morning," Marzia replied.
The two sat in silence for a while, unsure of what to talk about. Neither could find the words to speak or had any specific topic to begin a conversation. Marzia was the one to break the silence lingering over the room.
"Um... what's that in your hands?" Marzia question, eyeing the envelope, curious as to what was inside.
"I know... that you don't remember me," Felix said staring at the floor, "but I brought these to show you. They're memories." Just as Felix was about to hand the envelope to her, she cut him off.
"Actually," Marzia said softly. "I do... remember your person. Not exactly who you are, but I remember that you mean a great deal to me." Marzia sighed. "After the accident, I had amnesia. I remember mostly nothing. But when I fall asleep-- or maybe I'm dreaming right now-- I see you. I try to reach out to you, but your never there. You've disintegrated into nothingness before my eyes or are a motionless corpse on the ground. And if you were a random person, would I still be upset? Of course. But this is terrifying. I see you, and the feeling that you're no longer here makes me want to die."
Felix gripped the envelope tightly, unsure of what to say.
"May I leave this here?" Felix asked, holding up the envelope. Without waiting for an answer, he walked to Marzia's bedside table, placing the envelope underneath a small stack of books. He gazed at her for a few moments, and then tore his eyes away.
"I'll come back tomorrow."
And the door promptly shut behind him as his exit was made.
