The following day, Felix returned. And the next, and the next. Most days they didn't talk, but would have a short occasional conversation about whatever subject came up. No matter what, he always sat in the same chair, and said, "I'll come back tomorrow," before he exited. And he always did. Day after day, Felix would come to the hospital, but after a while he begun to notice that the envelope was never opened... or even moved from where he placed it underneath that same stack of books. So one day, he asked her.
"Marzia, why have you never looked at the envelope? I-I mean, if you don't want to, I understand, but..." Felix's voice trailed off. Marzia then locked eyes with him.
"Do you remember what I told you the day you gave me the envelope?" Marzia questioned. Felix nodded. Marzia sighed, looking away from him.
"It's because I'm scared."
Felix's eyes widened in a bit of surprise and mixed in confusion.
"I mean, I lose you so many times in that dark place, day after day. What if I lose you here, too? I don't know what sort of relationship, if any we had in this world. But it's enough of a bond as to where I need you to be alive. If something happened to you, I don't think I could take it." Marzia's fists tightened. "I don't want to regain the good memories when they'd just be shattered again."
Felix stood up from his chair and walked over to her bedside, sitting down on his knees.
'Then let's make some new ones," he said with a smile.
Marzia stared at him. Was he suggesting... a date? Marzia was trying to wrap her head around the situation. It would also be an excuse to get out of this dreadful building, but... what if... the dreams...
Marzia sighed.
"What in the world are you suggesting?"
Felix blushed slightly. "I know you don't know me too well, but if you'd like to, I'd prefer if you got to know me and I got to know you not in the confinement of a hospital dorm."
Marzia sighed again, and gave in.
"Okay," she muttered, blushing slightly.
