"Yellow house lets go," the sports master beckons at me and I quickly join the girls at the starting line.

Breathe, breathe, breathe.

I close my eyes, take in a deep breath then exhale.

"On your mark."

"Get set...go!"

I rush forward leaving the other three girls behind, then quickly control my speed. This is just the first lap, I don't want to tire myself out.

I continue to lead as we go round the field but the minute we pass the first lap I hear my opponents pick up speed, I catch a flash of blue and immediately spur myself forward, focusing only on the finish line. Almost there.

I'm a few feet from the finish line when I hear, "Don't be a disappointment," I glance back but don't see anyone and quickly turn back but blue house already crossed the finish line.

I cross second.

"And the winner for the female 200-metre race. Blue house!"

I quickly walk of the field. But Mr. Lawrence intercepts me on my way to my seat.

"What happened back there?" he asks

"Nothing," I reply.

He looks at me then sighs, "Miracle you can never be a disgrace nor can you ever bring shame to anyone. You are who you are and amazing at it."

I'm shocked. He heard that?

"And when I catch whoever said that, the person will be punished accordingly. Go and sit down," he pats my shoulder.

"You were amazing out there," Pelumi says immediately I sit down.

"You almost won. What happened?" Latifat turns to me, raising her voice thereby drawing the attention of people around.

"Mind your business," Pelumi snaps. I don't hear the rest of the conversation because I tune everything out.

Amelia will always be Amelia. I really should not let her get to me.

I look up that moment to see Tobi staring at me. We stare at each other for a while before he looks away. Whatever.

"Senior Miracle," a little boy taps my shoulder, he is wearing the yellow house sportswear, "Senior Patricia wants to see you," I nod and he walks away.

I get up to go but Pelumi grabs my hand, "Where are you going?"

"Toilet," I say.

"Careful," he squeezes my hand, I nod and quickly walk away. What is with him?

I immediately see Patricia and Emmanuella and they drag me behind the spectators stand. Patricia has changed into her sports outfit but still has the makeup from the parade on her face.

"Giirl, you were amazing. Screw Amelia you tore through that field like flash," Patricia says giving me a hug.

"So you heard her?" I ask.

"She is nothing but a vindictive bitch. Forget about her," Emmanuella says also pulling me in for a hug.

"I was on my feet, screaming your name so loud. I think everyone in my house hates me now," Patricia says laughing.

"Thank you guys," I say earnestly, "It means a lot."

"Let's go and take glucose. My house has a whole bag full of it," Emmanuella says. We are about to walk away when we see Amelia. She walks towards us, her hands on her hip. Just like Patricia she has changed into her sportswear but still has on her hair decoration and make up.
