chapter nine: 'night

Finn and I entered the motel. It was shitty, but still a motel.
"I'll check us in," Finn said. "You can stay here."
"Sure." I said.

~Thoughts~

Sometimes, I felt useless. I don't even know why I felt useless at that moment. There was a dinner there, with one of those shitty waffle makers. I liked to observe a lot. Notice little shit.
I used to be able to just tell what type of person anyone would be by just their clothes, shoes and the way they greet someone.
But with Finn, it was different.
Unlike my old classmates, who had the personalities of a piece of cardboard, Finn had emotions, personality traits, interests, and he was likeable, and hot.
Wait what—
Nope, not hot— attractive, yes, but not to me.
I guess he was cute? But I wasn't sexually attracted to him— or emotionally attracted to him— AS A FRIEND, yes, I liked him as a friend.
What the fuck, why am I even arguing with myself about this?
I'm not even arguing! I'm agreeing with myself that I don't like him like— omg shut the fuck up already.
My mind was scrambled.
It was just a fat piece of old and shit-filled mold.
I had been driving with some random stranger— MAYBE HE DID SOMETHING TO MY BRAIN?!
Okay, Sadie, what the fuck are you on?
Oh, look, Finn's coming, stop thinking, dumbass.
Why do I need to stop thinking when a guy comes around? This is fucking sexist.
I meant stop overthinking and stop fighting with yourself—

~Alright, I'll stop overthinking~
"Earth to Sadie, Earth to Sadie." Finn repeated as he snapped his fingers in front of me.
"Jeez." I said. "Were you able to book a room?"
"Yeah, but this shitty motel is somehow booked, I was able to get us a room but it only has one bed." Finn answered.
"Oh, then I guess you're sleeping floor." I said jokingly.
"Oh, because I'm just irresistible?" Finn sarcastically asked.
"Yeah, because I just can't keep my hands off of you." I said as I rolled my eyes.
Finn squinted his eyes.
"There's a car rental near by, I was thinking we could rent a van for a couple of nights." Finn suggested.
I nodded.
"Ill go get dinner now." Finn said as he stumbled his way back towards the door. "Oh, here's the keycard to our room!" He yells as he tosses the keycard at me.
I barely caught it, but I did.
I wave at him and he smiles and waves back with his fingers stuck together.
I walk into Finn and I's room and crash onto our bed.
I open my backpack and grab my laptop.
I watched some Netflix for a couple of minutes until Finn came with dinner.
Finn and I sat on our bed and ate dinner and talked.
"So... you didn't go to your prom?" I asked.
"No, I didn't!" Finn yelled in a frustrated way.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Because it's for popular washed up kids." Finn groaned. "You're such a hypocrite you didn't even go to yours!"
"That's because—" I stopped myself.
"See!" Finn yelled. "Hypocrite!" He said as he pointed at me.
I laughed.
"Fuck You!" I said as I pushed him a little.
He laughed.
"Well, I mean what is it that we even missed out on?" Finn asked.
"Well according to the only decent person from my school." I said.
I moved a bit closer.
"Apparently, someone's date got sick and left halfway through, so she hooked up with his best friend." I added. "Everyone was hooking up and shit, I don't think I'd want to go to a dance, where everyone is dry humping and calling it 'dancing'."
Finn laughed, which made me laughed.
Buzz, buzz.
Finn stared at his phone.
"I gotta take this, I'm gonna go to the bathroom and take-"
"Yeah- Yeah, Just go." I interrupted.
I wasn't one to eavesdrop but Finn was being kinda loud and I don't really have an option.
"No, I don't wanna hear it!" I heard Finn jail. "You ditched me, and I'm gonna thank you for that because now I met someone better!"
That line made me blush.
I wasn't sure he was talking about me but I liked to think he was.
"I'm not gonna fucking meet up with you!" Finn yelled.
I took a gasp of air.
Finn came out of the bathroom.
"Did you hear that?" Finn asked with a small chuckle.
"Most of it." I said.
"I'm sorry— it was the girl who ditched me." Finn added.
"You Have every right to be pissed." I agreed.
There was a moment of silence.
"We should— uh, go back to eating what we wanted." Finn suggested.
I nodded.

Before I knew it.
Me and Finn were both nearly asleep.
Talking about our dreams and laughing at everything because we were so sleep deprived everything was funny.
"And then he said 'go blow yourself, Wolfhard!'" Finn explained.
I laughed.
"Sadie, I'm so fucking tired." Finn said.
"Yeah, me too." I groaned.
Finn stretched.
There was a pillow in between us with a silk cover. My arm was on top of the pillow.
"I think we should fotos peep before I pass out in the middle of a conversation." I said.
Finn chuckled.
"Yeah, same." Finn agreed.
I was mostly asleep, I could still feel and hear everything around me but i was mostly asleep.
I feel something wrap around my wrist.
"Good night, Sadie."
