Desperation. A terrible feeling. It corrupts the mind and you act on impulse. The only thing on your mind is curing that desperation with the task at hand. Right now, I am desperate. And the only thing holding me back from lunging at this man and sending him to hell is Liel and my baby.

I look at the boys, tied up and bound, but not scared. They are a little beat up. But they're not scared. They look like this is a normal everyday occurrence and like this is just another day in paradise. I swear, these boys will be the death of me.

Seeing a gun pointed at them breaks me. Hurts me. Scares me. I can't lose these boys. They have all grown on me. Max has made me laugh over the most stupid things. James has made me angry over the smallest things. Alec has never let me back down from a challenge. And Liel. He's not tied up but he's in just as much danger as the rest of them.

Liel has shown me more love than anyone ever has since my parents died. And that's enough for me. If I lose one of these boys, I don't know what will happen to me. I don't think I will be able to survive without them. But I know they would want me to be strong if something did happen to them. So, I am going to do just that.

Stay strong and fight until the very end.

"You don't need them. Let them go. You want me and I am here," I say and the man chuckles.

"I wanted you, Wassim. Past tense. Now, I want to make you lose your men. Your people. To pay for all the men you took from me. An eye for an eye," he says and I glare at him.

"I had no choice but to kill your men. You're the one that murdered my parents. You may not have pulled the trigger, but you called the order. You started all of this. But don't think you will get to end it. Oh no. I will be the one that is going to end it."

With calculated precision, I pull out my gun and I shoot his hand holding the gun. He drops it with a scream and I run up to him, delivering a hard punch to his jaw.

I know I shouldn't be fighting while pregnant, but I need to. This is might fight. I can't sit back and let other people fight it. I will do something. And I will keep my baby safe while doing it.

The man throws a punch to my stomach but I block it. I see a knife coming straight for my head and I catch it before I stab the man in the leg with it. He screams and falls to one knee. I knee him in the face and he falls back.

I get my dagger out and I go for the kill until I hear a scream that makes me freeze.

Liel.

Stupidly abandoning the man on the ground, I run to where Liel is being held at gunpoint. The woman is about to pull the trigger when I jump on her and take her to the ground. She grunts and struggles, but with one punch to her temple, she is knocked out cold. I get out one of my smaller knives and I slit her throat.

I turn to Liel and I see he is holding his leg and wincing in pain. I crawl to him and I rip a piece of my shirt off before tying it around his thigh.

"That should stop the blood flow. Stay down until this is finished. We can handle this," I say and he shakes his head. I give him a small smile before kissing his forehead and walking away.

I look around and I see the boys are talking to one another like this is a fucking football game. They're cheering us on, booing every enemy loudly then snickering about it. I roll my eyes at the antics and I start running towards them. When I make it to them, I kneel beside Alec and I look at his bindings.

They are all bound in chains. Shit.

"I can't get these undone. We'll have to wait until after the fight," I say and Max scoffs.

"Well, duh. We knew that. Now go kick ass. We're rooting for you." He sends me a dramatic wink and I glare at him. "Glare at someone else. I'm not scared of you."

"Right. Well, you should be." I turn away from them and I see two people teaming up on Leah. I run to her and I shoot the two people in the head. After they fall, Leah looks at me and smiles.

"Thanks."

"No problem. Where is Eli?" Leah looks around and she points to behind me. I turn and I see Eli and another man in hand-to-hand combat. I take in what is happening and I see Eli is losing. He looks wounded.

Running over to him, I shoot the enemy when I get close enough. Eli sighs and looks at me. I scan him for injuries and I see a deep stab wound on his abdomen. I curse and I look around. My side is winning. But we've lost plenty of people already.

It's time to end this.

Turning back to Eli, I ask if he is alright. When he nods, I turn away and I search for the man that started this all. The man in charge of my parents' murders.

I find him crawling to his gun and I sprint to him and I kick it away. He looks up at me and smiles at me. He stands slowly and I get impatient, sending a punch to his face. He saw it coming and dodges out the way. He punches me in the jaw and I stumble back before composing myself and sending a roundhouse kick, nailing him in the chest.

The man grunts and punches me in the side. I hiss, but I don't falter in my fight.

Right as I go to punch his in the nose, a deadly blow, I hear a scream from Leah and I falter which the man takes to his advantage. He punches me in the eye, then the temple, then he kicks me in the side. I fall the ground, black spots invading my vision. I see him take my gun from the ground, which I dropped before we started fighting, and he gives me a sick smile.

"Oh, poor Siayla. She can't save anyone she loves, can she?" He turns to the boys, points the gun at James, and pulls the trigger.

A scream fills the air as everything seems to go in slow motion. I don't know who screamed, but I watch as the bullet heads straight for James, but Max jumps in front of him. I soon realize the screaming is coming from me.

James screams and cries, looking at his twin brother bleed on his lap. The bullet entered just below Max's chest. He doesn't look good.

I look at the man with the promise of death in my eyes. He is still looking at the boys, smiling like a psycho. Using that to my advantage, I climb to my feet and I jump on his back. I wrap one arm around his neck and I put my other hand on the back of his head.

"Never turn your back on the enemy." With that, I break his neck and we fall to the ground. I climb off of him and I look at the boys. They are all shouting for Max to wake up, crying for him not to go. I see Max smile a sad smile. He says something to James, before he closes his eyes.

James screams to the skies. One word that seems to make the whole world freeze.

Max.
