It was 4 in the evening; I was dressed up in an expensive black Philipp Plein coat suit. I looked myself in the mirror and praised myself for my looks. Palkha entered the room to tell me that they have arranged some van to the party hall. He asked me to join. I agreed merrily. After spraying deodorant all over my body, I sneaked out into the living room. Navya’s parents were seated on the couch and talking to some of Darshit’s relatives. I could not find Navya then, and I could not find Darshit either. I walked around the house like a Cat. Then Palkha appeared to my sight, then Darshit, but no sign of Navya.
“Can we go?”, Darshit asked by adjusting his hand watch in hurry. Everyone was there and all nodded their head. I was about to ask about Navya but all of a sudden, my words were hanged to death after witnessing her beauty. She was in a light pink printed lehenga choli. She came running and jumping in smile to catch her four-year-old half-sister. Her tiny shiny divine navel was visible, her polished rosy lips made me nervous, her silky hair teased me as usual, and her luminous eyes caught me red handed. She then flashed her godly smile at me, and I stood there speechless. She then took her little sister up in her arms and walked passed me. Her fruity fragrance pulled my soul along with her. She was more than beautiful that day, I could say, she was the personification of beauty itself.
“Dude, how do I look?”, Darshit asked me.
“Just look at her, how the hell did God managed to create such a beautiful human”, I asked him, pausing my stare at Navya’s beauty. I didn’t hear any reply from him, then I turned my gaze towards him. He was staring at my shy face ferociously.
“What?”, I asked him.
“How do I look?”, he said in his upmost disrespect tone.
I took a step back and pictured his whole image in my eyes and replied him, “Stunning dude”.
“Thanks”, he said and patted my shoulder heavily and walked away. Then I turned to gaze at Navya, but she was gone.
“Advik, come on. The van is about to leave”, Palkha called me. I hurried out and got inside the van. Everyone was there inside, including Navya and Navya’s parents. She was seated with her little sister, and I took one of the last seats of the van as it was free. Then Darshit’s cousin sisters hurried inside the van and they had no other option except to share the last seats with me. They were three of them – Kavya, Reena and Arshiya, and all the three were doing their UG then.
“Are you Darshit’s friend?”, Reena asked me.
“Yes”, I said nervously.
“Are you a writer?”, she again asked me.
“Yes”, I said, but that time I was not nervous, I was mad.
“What’s your name?”, she asked me the third question continuously. I was literally fed up.
“Advik”, I said and instantly I took my phone and acted like I was busy in texting someone.
“OMG. You are that writer, who’s novel is going to be released soon as Netflix series?”, Kavya asked in amaze.
“Yes”, I said in pride and glared at my phone. I heard some muttering noise. I wondered what they were up to.
“Can we take a selfie with you?”, Kavya asked. I could not resist, as it was my first selfie with my fans. We clicked a selfie, but the girls were not satisfied with it. We took another one, again no satisfaction. We kept clicking selfies for more than 15 times, and finally everyone agreed that it was the best selfie. I sighed in distress and glared at Navya. She was looking at all these things. I threw a hard smile at her, but she replied me with her own divine smile.
“Are you single?”, again the annoying conversation continued. That time it was from Arshiya.
“Yes”, I said the truth.
“Great. Do you want to go out for a date with me or any one of us?”, she asked. All the three blushed, and it was truly frustrating.
“No…no, thank you”, I politely resisted their offer.
“No problem, you can take your time. See, we know that we three are pretty. You choose the prettiest”, Kavya said.
How could someone choose these three annoying women, when he could see Navya through them? I somehow managed to stay there, unharmed till we reach the party hall.
Darshit’s car arrived, he walked into the party hall with her pregnant girlfriend. They held their hands and walked up to the stage. All the people in the party hall were provided with tiny colourful thermocol balls. As the groom and the bride walk up to the stage, everyone threw it on them in joy. Both Darshit and Ankita looked perfect. They both were happy and was ready to write a new chapter of their story. I received a call; it was from the man who was about to bring my flower bouquet which I was ordered as my gift for the wedding. I went outside the party hall, and took my bouquet from the delivery man and walked in. Suddenly, the three annoying cousins of Darshit came before me.
“Can you give us your number? If not date, we can chat at least”, they said. I replied them with my annoying smile and hurried somewhere in the corner of the party hall. Darshit and his wife exchanged rings, and that was the indication for their marriage. No fancy dramas, no expensive stuffs, just two rings and a party to finish a wedding. I loved it. Then they both danced slowly and gently. Darshit was careful with his hold and touch, as his wife was pregnant. I was enjoying all this from a corner, where no one could notice me.
“What are you doing here?”, Navya’s voice tickled my ears. She then occupied a seat beside me.
“I was protecting myself from those three-man eaters”, I said.
She chortled mercilessly. But I loved it.
“I think you should go out with them someday. Just a casual date”, she said smiling.
“No way”, I said with my annoying look.
“At least you will learn how to talk with girls, and how to be frank. You will learn many things”, she said.
“What? You are a girl, am I not talking to you?”, I said and defended myself from her statement.
“Yes, but you are not frank”, she said. And that moment, my mouth stumbled to find words. I thought that she found out that I was in love with her.
“What do you mean?”, I asked in my dim lazy voice.
“Darshit told me everything”, she said.
‘What the fuck!? Bastard, why he would do this to me? How am I going to convince her? Shit! What am I going to tell her now?’ – I cried to myself.
“What did he say?”, I asked her feverishly.
“That you wanted to write a romantic fiction, but you could not outline the story properly. So, you were looking for someone to write with you. You approached Darshit but he told you that he was busy, but he had suggested me instead, am I right? But you felt so shy and didn’t utter a word about this to me?”, she narrated a new story to me. It was all Darshit’s plan, I knew it once she finished her statement. Then, it was up to me, to continue his story like a real one.
“I… I … It was …”, I stumbled.
“See, now you don’t know how to speak properly”, she mocked me.
“I thought that you were busy that time and I…”, my words were stopped.
“I am going to US for a month to stay with my parents. We will write after a month. Is that okay for you?”, she said.
“Yes, yes, sure. Thank you”, I said blushing gleefully. She then went off to play with her little sister. I went on to the stage and gifted Darshit’s wedding bouquet and whispered in his ears while taking photograph, “What have you done dude? How did you manage to create such a beautiful story?”.
“Sir, please look at the camera”, the camera man said, and I didn’t mind his shit commands.
“I was the one who screwed you, now I am the one who gave you a wonderful opportunity. Trust me bro, if you write a book with her, you can understand her well, you get to spend a lot of time together. All the best”, he said. I hugged him tight. I wanted to kiss him, but again it would be unfitting to kiss a groom in front of the bride. After a yummy dinner, I bid goodbye to Navya, Navya’s family, Darshit, his wife, Palkha, and Darshit’s family. I took my luggage from his home and decided to flew back to Chennai. Navya told me that she would go to Kolkata the next day with her parents, and after a week they would go to USA for vacation. That two days in Mumbai was one of the best days of my life. Many unexpected things had happened which brought changes to my later life.
