Epilogue

I could not sleep that night. I wanted to go back to Kolkata and knock her door for some mercy. I kept rolling around the bed, as Navya was not there with me. Every time when I woke up and cry, I felt like I was being crushed by a demonic being. I called Meera in the middle of the night, hoping that she would pick up. And she did pick up my call. I told her that I was going to go back to Kolkata tomorrow for Navya. She must have heard my crying voice on the other end.
“You are not going anywhere. Trust me, Navya will be there at my wedding tomorrow. I promise you”, she said and hung up the call. Whenever Meera promised me something she always fulfilled it. So, I believed in her words. I hardly slept 2hours that night. The next day, I got dressed up in a blue Sherwani. Meera’s wedding ceremony was at 11 Am. Rohan picked us three from the hotel to a grand hall. It was decorated with beautiful LED lights, and a beautiful Mandap set was made with decorative flowers and fairy lights. I roamed around everywhere to find Navya, but I couldn’t find her. I went looking for Meera who had promised me that Navya would be there. But I couldn’t find her either as she was busy with her outfit stuffs. I met Meera’s mom. She pinched my cheek as she would like to do back in my college days whenever she met me. I sat in a corner of that huge gigantic hall and wondered how one night could change everything in one’s life. Whenever I closed my eyes for a blink, Navya’s face flashed before me. Tears slithered out from my eyes. Suddenly, a familiar voice struck my ear drums gently.
“How do I look?”, she chirped from behind. I turned my head swiftly to see her. She was standing right behind me. She was dressed up in an orange yellowish lehenga. Her face was brighter than usual, her blissful smile was more alive than usual, and she was beautiful than ever before. I stood up with my wet eyes and looked at her alluring face. She saw my tears rolling out from my eyes to see her. She then rubbed my tears with her hands. “Please, don’t cry”, she said.
Without a second thought, I hugged her. It was a long hug. I cried on her shoulders like a child. Suddenly Meera’s Mother voice broke our hug.
“Arey beta… Kyon ithna late?”, she said.
“Thoda kaam raha tha… ussliye”, Navya replied her.
“Thuje Meera dhundi thi”, she said.
“Mei dekdhi”.
“Acha acha”, she said and went off by flashing a smile at both of us.
I wondered how Navya knew Meera’s mother.
“There she is”, Navya said to me by pointing at the mandap. I turned my gaze to the dazzling decorative mandap. Meera was there. She waved her hands happily at both Navya and I. Navya waved her hand back. And I could not understand anything that was happening that moment.
“Where were you last night?”, I asked her in concern.
“Meera’s home”, she said. And then I got everything on the line. I gawked her in shock.
“She told me everything”, Navya said. Her sparkling eyes started to dim. Slowly her eyes became reddish, and that indicated me that she was about to cry.
“What did she told you?”, I asked in my faint voice.
“Everything”, she said, and tears started to flow from her eyes.
I hugged her to stop her tears, but she kept crying more on my chest. After she finished pouring her tears on my chest, I released the hug.
“Will you marry me?”, I asked her. She looked deep inside my desperate eyes, and quickly locked her lips with mine. Then she released her lips slowly and kissed my forehead. She then whispered, “Yes I will”.

6 MONTHS LATER
STARMARK, SOUTH CITY MALL, KOLKATA
“This is the first-time you guys have worked together in writing a story. Can we expect more books from you guys?”, a question was asked in our book launch event.
Both Navya and I glared at each other’s face and exchanged cheerful smiles.
“Well, we are planning to write a story together. A story which can be written only one time in a lifetime”, I said and winked at her romantically. Everyone before us stood numb and confused. Navya stood up from her seat, and I followed her actions. “We are going to get married”, she said and gave me a side hug. Everyone started to clap their hands and we both flushed like a shooting star. And just like that, Universe wrote a wonderful chapter in my story. It is said, if you can’t find love then love will find you. That is the rule of the Universe. And it was true in both Navya and my story. We found each other, and love found us when we needed it the most.
