A/N: Hedwig's alive, cause I can't stand that she dies, and I really like her as a character. And cause what is the point of fanfic if you can't bring back the characters you like.

Draco couldn't believe this was happening. There was no way he was sitting in the Slytherin common room waiting for Harry bloody Potter to show up and take him to what would be their shared dorm. No way.

And yet, here was Draco the Python, sitting in a silver armchair in front of the fire, awaiting the savior of the bloody wizarding world. Draco was in shock.

Pansy and Blaise weren't helping much. Pansy was practically sitting on top of Draco, cooing at him in what she probably thought was a comforting way. Draco was far from comforted, however. He wasn't sure he'd find anything comforting in his current state.

Blaise was sitting in another chair next to Draco's. His face was pale. He seemed just as horrified as Draco if it was possible. At least he didn't have to be carried around by his worst enemy, the pale snake thought savagely. It had been Blaise's spell that had hit his friend, and he was feeling very guilty.

Both Pansy and Blaise hadn't really processed yet that they wouldn't be able to talk to their friend for possibly three months. They seemed to be trying not to think about it. As much as they tried to act normal, it was quite a feeble attempt. Draco mentally gave them an E for Effort. Of course he couldn't tell them however, not without Potter to play interpreter.

Draco groaned, and looked at the clock. It was almost a quarter to eight. The idiot had better not be late, he thought to himself, glaring around the common room. But then again, Draco would prefer if Potter ever came at all. Maybe everyone would just forget that he was a snake, and he could just spend the next few months playing "Blaise's pet". He could just lounge around, and not go to class. Blaise could feed him bacon, and he could sleep in till 10.

Draco was brought down to Earth with a resounding thump, when a loud pounding issued from the door. Everyone in the room turned to face the wall, but no one made a move to open it. Finally a voice called, "Open the door, idiots, I don't know the password!"

Blaise got shakily to his feet and opened the concealed door to reveal Potter standing in the doorway. "Finally," he said sardonically. "I thought you might be holding Malfoy hostage."

"We should have," Pansy muttered, carrying Draco over to the door. She stood next to Blaise and eyed Potter up and down suspiciously.

"Don't worry yourself," the dark haired wizard said coldly. "I'm not planning on throwing him out the window."

Draco sighed in relief. Pansy though, did not look very comforted. "You'd better take good care of him, Potter, or you'll regret it!"

"Stop acting like my mom, Pansy!" Draco hissed grumpily.

Potter snorted. Pansy looked affronted. "What did he say?" she asked him sharply.

"'Stop acting like my mom,'" Potter mumbled.

"Excuse me?" Pansy growled.

"That's what Malfoy said!" Potter explained hastily.

Pansy shot a look at Draco, dropped him into Blaise's arms, and turned away. "Have a nice time with Wonder Boy!" she said scornfully, flouncing away.

"Er, sorry about Pansy," Blaise apologized. "It's hard for her to see Draco like this. Hard for me to, really." He looked down at his shoes. "It was my spell that did it."

Potter looked around awkwardly. "I'm sure he doesn't blame you," he said hesitantly. "I can try and send you messages with my owl, Hedwig. You know, to keep in touch with Mal-Draco."
