Star-Crossed Lovers (Lucifer x Reader)

Y/N tossed and turned in their sleeping bag, the fabric rustling along with their movements. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't fall asleep. Y/N slowly sat up as the tent rubbed their eyes. After a few minutes, they eventually slipped out of their sleep sack, grabbed their flashlight, and unzipped the opening to their tent.

Maybe after a short walk, they would be able to sleep. They exited their mini shelter as they were hit with a cold breeze. Perhaps going back to the human world for a camping trip was a bad idea. Y/N carefully walked past the other tents, where the demon brothers slept.

Y/N saw a golden light emanating from a certain tent: it was Lucifer's.

Was he still awake? Y/N reached out towards the polyester fabric. "Lucifer?" Y/N called out in a whisper.

"Yes?" Y/N jumped as a familiar voice came from behind them.

Y/N turned around to meet a familiar face. "L-lucifer! Don't scare me like that!" Y/N yelped out as they clutched their chest.

Lucifer sighed. "Do stay quiet. You'll wake everyone up." Lucifer said as he shook his head. "More importantly, what are you doing awake?" Lucifer asked.

"I wasn't able to sleep so I decided to take a walk." Y/N explained as they played with the flashlight in their hands.

"You're having trouble as well..." Lucifer muttered tiredly.

"Yeah, my sleeping bag is really tight!" Y/N complained.

"Indeed. They are very uncomfortable." Lucifer agreed as he glanced at his dark blue tent.

Y/N's eyes suddenly lit up. "I know! Let's walk together! I found a great spot with fewer trees! Maybe we can see the stars from there." Y/N said gleefully.

"That's dangerous. You don't know what's out there." Lucifer pointed out.

"This isn't the Devildom, you know. Anyway, I'm sure you'd be able to protect me if we were in a dangerous situation." Y/N declared with a dismissive smile as they started to walk off into the forest.

"Are you even sure you know where to go?" Lucifer queried further.

"Don't worry about it. I'll figure it out." Y/N replied. Despite what Y/N said, Lucifer looked skeptical at them. "Pleeeease?" Y/N begged with puppy eyes.

"Fine, but let's hurry. It's cold." Lucifer agreed with a small shiver, smiling at Y/N's excitement.

"Okay!" Y/N said happily as they led the way, turning their flashlight on. The light brightened the ground before them, making an illuminating path to navigate.

"I heard that the stars are more visible in the mountains..." Y/N muttered thoughtfully as they looked at the tree-covered dark navy blue sky.

"Is that so?" Lucifer responded as he gazed at Y/N's reflective expression.

"Yep! The air is clearer here, too." Y/N answered, subconsciously bouncing as they walked. The rough terrain of rocks, twigs, and branches caused Y/N to lose their footing and soon, they came tumbling down.

Y/N closed their eyes as braced for impact. However, Y/N never made it to the ground. Instead, they were caught by two sturdy arms that wrapped around their torso.

"You need to pay better attention. The ground is uneven." Lucifer said with a teasing but concerned tone as he pulled Y/N closer to his chest.

Y/N felt heat rise to their cheeks as they were placed on their feet. "...Yeah, thanks, Lucifer." Y/N squeaked out in embarrassment.

Lucifer chuckled at Y/N's flustered state. "We can hold hands if you would like." Lucifer suggested with a musing smile.

"O-okay, sure." Y/N accepted as they extended their hand for Lucifer's. Y/N gently squeezed his palm as they focused on the feeling of Lucifer's rarely ungloved hand.
