Chapter eighteen: Moving on.
A month later.
It was the new year and a new beginning, after the loses of our friends, we had become more closer as the time passed.
Freddy hadn't shown up every time I went to the elevator at Ethan's apartment but, maybe it was because it was a different one, it shouldn't have mattered. I was just glad that he was gone.
I had a gut feeling that he wasn't finished with me yet, I just hoped he didn't come after any more people I loved. We had a small gathering a week after Beth died, it was a beautiful service but, she was taken too soon.
"Ally, did you get the mail?" Brandon smiled at me.
"I sure did." I handed him the mail and grinned.
He frowned when he got mostly bills. "Damn bills." He said while chucking them onto the kitten counter, next to the picture of everyone.
"Why are you grinning?" He asked, looking confused.
"There was a phone call on the phone earlier," I said as he waited for me to finish, "from somebody called Ariana." I smirked, he smiled. "She was asking for you."
"Ah, the beautiful Ariana," he said in a daydream like voice, "she's my girlfriend."
I play punched him. "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I guess I wanted to wait in until it was official." He winked at me.
"That's great, I'm happy for you!"
"I guess after everything that has happened, something good came into my life." He smiled as I smiled back. It was good that he was moving on but, I didn't know about Ethan, he seemed to be in a mood every time I saw him.
Speaking of Ethan, he just walked through the door. "Hey!" I tried to kiss him but he moved away and into the kitchen.
"What's the matter?" I asked while sitting on a chair in front of the kitchen counter.
"Nothing." He mumbled.
"What's with the attitude?" I argued, needing to know why he was being like that.
He glared at me. "I don't have an attitude."
I am startled by his reaction. "Yeah, you do." I said in a stupid tone.
"Give me a break." He slammed his hands onto the bench and left to go into our bedroom. I had no idea what is wrong with him but, I needed to figure it out

It had been a while since the argument with Ethan and Brandon went on his date. Ethan was still locked in his bedroom, being unsocial. I decided to face him. "Ethan?" I said while slamming the door, it startled him. He lied flat on the bed twirling his thumbs. He didn't say anything.
"What's going on?" I asked while I sat next to him.
He sighed. "It's just not the same anymore."
My face turned from anger to sadness. "I know." I said as he sat up and leaned against the bed.
"It used to be the just five of us, living our young lives," he took my hand, "I can't lose you too."
I sighed thinking about Freddy. "No, I can't lose you." I squeezed his hand.
Even though Freddy was gone, I could still feel him lingering around me. Ethan smiled and kissed me on the lips. "Promise you won't leave?"
"I promise I won't leave." I said as I played with the heart shaped necklace he gave me last year.
"You still have that?" He touched it over my fingers.
I smiled. "Of course, you and I are forever and always." And with that, I cuddled into him on the bed as he started kissing me.
After that, we both left the bedroom as Brandon has just returned home.
"How was your date?" I asked him.
He smiled. "She's great and ticks all the boxes."
Ethan and I both laughed. "That's awesome, good for you." Ethan said.
"Thanks." Brandon said proudly.
It felt good. Brandon and Ariana were official and Ethan was feeling better so we could get on with our lives and live it together, peacefully.
I thought Freddy has finished with me, I was glad that it was all over.
It was a tragedy how Tyler and Beth had to die in the process of his hauntings. I missed them both, a lot.

The next day was a breeze, I went to my class for half of the day and came home just in time for lunch. Ethan was working and Brandon was with Ariana. It was just me at home today and I didn't mind, I felt less terrified being on my own.
I turned on the television as I slouched on the couch, eating leftovers from last nights dinner and drinking a glass of juice. I switched it on channel seven and I saw something that was hard to believe.
"Breaking News." The headlines said at the bottom on the screen. I turned it up louder and listened while I continued to eat.
"A body was found in the local college. The body was identified this afternoon and it belonged to a Kylie Winters, who had a heart attack after her class this morning but, the strange thing is that she never had a heart problem." As I heard this, I nearly choked on my food. I was just had a class with her and I was sitting right next to her. That was so weird to think that she was alive a few hours ago and now she was dead.
I quickly called Ethan. "Babe!" I shouted into the phone.
"Hey, Ally." He asked, sounding confused.
"Did you hear about Kylie?" I asked.
"No, what's up?"
I sighed, almost in tears. "She's dead."
He was a shocked as I was. I explained what happened and after a few more minutes of talking, we hung up. That's upsetting, why does everyone have to die unexpectedly? From a heart attack? Oh, please. And just when this year was going great, that happened.
I switched off the television and I tried to call Brandon but he didn't answer, he was probably having too much fun with Ariana. I cleaned up my dishes and all I could think about is Kylie, I didn't know her well but, we had our small conversations about the class sometimes.
Cut off from my thoughts, I suddenly jumped at the sound of footsteps creaking around the apartment. I still get frightened sometimes but it didn't bother me. But now, I was worried.
I looked around and no one was here. I shrugged it off until I heard something else that I'm very familiar with. I turned around to see Freddy glaring at me as he stood in the living room, a few meters away from where I stood.
He smirked. "It's been a while."
