| Paper Hearts, Broken Hearts |

Today is Valentine's Day. I absolutely hated this day even when I younger and I still do now. It's a lame accuse to say "I love you". If you truly love someone, you would let them know everyday. Just saying.

Today, the restaurant is doing a small sale for all those that bring a date. This will help the family owned business so I support the idea.

Right now I'm decorating the dinning area with red and pink paper hearts. Auntie even bought fresh flowers from a neighboring store. I decided to put them in a glass jar with some water and place that in the middle of each table.

In no time the small restaurant was themed with anything Valentines. The hearts, flowers, drawings on the chalk board, and red table cloths made this place look fancier. Fine dining Y'all.

"Thank you honey. You are doing great." I hear Auntie behind me say as I hang the string of white triangle flags up by the window. That was the last thing. "You're welcome, I'm glad I can help."

I look outside the window and see all the variety of cars passing by and the people walking the streets. It's a Sunday so people aren't as busy, I think.

It is only 6 in the afternoon so we only have half an hour to clean and prepare for massive cooking. It looks like people are already starting to line up.

"Hey, Akari? My kids will be coming to join us here in the restaurant soon, once they arrive you may go. I'm sure you have plans with someone today."

Honestly I would laugh. Probably because of the fact that she just assumed I have a life and/or because her kids are adults that doesn't seem like they have a dating life. It's nice that they still join their parents to run the restaurant though.

"Um sure, I guess I can take a few hours off."

Honestly I have nothing to do. My parents went away on their anniversary trip/ business trip and said that they won't be coming back till the next school year, thank goodness. I do NOT want to deal with them. My brother still lives there but he has been staying with his friends and getting too drunk to go home. I have the house all to myself. It's probably illegal but still though...

I walk to the changing room and put on my apron. After making sure all my things where placed in the small locker they gave me to put my belongings in, I leave the room and enter the kitchen. There were dishes on the drying area that I started to wipe down. It took some time but once I was finished drying the dishes, I stacked them up and placed them on the counter with the rest of the plates to be ready to serve.

Auntie gives me the notepad for ordering and a good luck. My feet starting walking to the front door to like the customers in. It's going to be a few long hours.
