If there’s something that I learned from all of the time that I spent with Francis and my friends, it’s that things just don’t go your way. Well, not all the time.
After Francis and I became a couple, senior year went by quickly, too quickly if you ask me. Francis and I had fun; we went to a couple of dates, we hung out at each other’s house a lot, and we became the school’s “cutest” couple. But we couldn’t avoid the elephant in the room forever. It was the thing that ruined a lot of great relationships and bonds: college.
~flashback~
“Is there a witch academy around here?” Sofie asked, looking up from her phone.
“Hmm, I think you should build a witch academy, instead of just going to one. I don’t think you’re one to just follow boring old witch rules. Anyway, you’re already a pro witch.” I replied.
“True, true.” Sofie nodded while looking around the cafeteria. “Seriously though, I have no idea what I’m supposed to do after high school.”
“Didn’t you apply for industrial engineering in a college somewhere?” I asked.
“Do I look like the type of person who would like to sit around while computing mathematical equations?”
“…yeah?”
Sofie sighs. “I did it just for people to think that I’m ridiculously insane BUT smart. I seriously don’t know what to do with my life. Can you run away with me into the forest?”
“Into the forest where you’ll scream because of the bugs and insects and nature which are present there?”
“I….yeah you’re right. I’ll just fly away on my broom stick, just like what I’m about to do right now ‘cause…” She says while pointing to Francis who was coming over to our table.
Sofie bends down, grabs her bag and goes to the corner where she left her broom stick. Yes, she brought a broom stick to school. Now, please do continue to question her sanity.
“Hey!” Francis smiled, as he sat down next to me.
“So Sofie just “flew away” on a broom stick.”
“And why does that surprise you?” Francis laughed.
“No, I was just wondering why she left when you came along. Usually, she would loiter around, ESPECIALLY if you and I were together.” I replied.
“Oh…Well, I actually told her beforehand that I would need to talk with you about something important.” Francis stood up and held out his hand. “Shall we?”
“Uhm where are we going?”
“I just think that it would be nice to be outside for this talk.”
“Good idea, so that we could watch Sofie while she flies around!” I said, chuckling while taking his hand.
This is not good. Why do we need to go outside for just a talk? Is there something wrong?
Those were the only things that were running through my head as we were walking towards the school’s open fields. I don’t think anything good ever came out of talking in the open fields.
“So…” Francis started.
“So…?” My voice was weak, and I felt my hands shaking, even if we just began talking.
“College…” Francis said, while looking around. “What plans do you have? I bet you’re aiming for Harvard, huh?”
“Oh please. I wouldn’t go to Harvard even if they offered me a full scholarship and a job.”
