The day had finally come, you and Jonathan's one year anniversary. He had already told you that he made dinner reservations and was coming to pick you up at eight pm. It was currently seven fifty and you were putting the finishing touches on your outfit. You were wearing a beautiful red dress that was knee length and flowy. You had a pair of sliver heals that you wore with it and a nice pair of diamond earrings with a matching necklace. As you sprayed your perfume and made sure your makeup was perfect, you heard the doorbell ring, signaling that Jonathan had arrived. You grabbed you purse, his anniversary gift, and went downstairs.
You opened the door to see your handsome boyfriend standing in front of you with a bouquet of flowers and his bright smile that you loved. "Hey baby girl. You look stunning!" He said, staring at you in awe. You blushed hard at the nickname and complimented him back. "Oh! These are for you!" He said as he handed you the bouquet. "Thank you!" You said, giving him a quick peck on the lips before going to put the flowers in a vase before leaving. Once you put them in the vase you turned and walked back to the door where Jonathan was waiting. "Shall we go?" He asked putting his arm out for you to take. You said yes and took his arm walking to the car. He opened the door for you and waited for you to get in before closing it with a smile. He walked to his side of the car and started driving to the restaurant.
About thirty minuets later, you arrived at a fancy restaurant in the city. "Oh wow. Jonathan you didn't have to do this!" You say in shock as you walk into the restaurant. "Of course I did baby. I want the best for our one year." He said kissing your temple before guiding you to the host stand. "Hello I have a reservation for two under Brandis." Jonathan said to the man at the host stand. "Ahh yes I see your name right here. Right this way please." He led you to a nice booth in the corner of the restaurant away from most of the people. Jonathan had requested this table because he knew how anxious you got around big crowds of people. "I hope this table is ok. I asked for it because I know how you get." He said as you both sat on the same side of the booth together. "Its perfect babe. Thank you so much." you said as you pecked his lips.
The waiter came over and took both of your drink orders and let you look over the menu for a while. You picked what you wanted to eat quickly and Jonathan was still looking at the menu. You let him decide and looked around the restaurant at the decorations and the people. You noticed many couples. They all seemed so happy and refined. You started to feel out of place, and shift uncomfortably. Jonathan noticed, but didn't say anything thinking nothing of your movements. Soon the waiter came back to take you food orders and your menus. He came back a while later and gave you your food. Once he left, you kept looking at the ladies in the couples and saw their beautiful dresses and jewelry that they had on. You also saw how politely they were behaving. You couldn't help but notice how naturally beautiful they all were. You looked down at your hands thinking of how different you were compared to them. They were naturally beautiful, elegant, refined, rich, and ladylike. You were insecure about your looks, not too well off, and tomboyish. You started to shift more, feeling more out of place than before. Jonathan noticed again and saw that something was wrong.
He grabbed you hands. "Baby whats wrong? Look at me." You didn't look at him and kept your head down. He sighed and put his hand under your chin to lift it up and make you look at him. "Baby girl, whats the matter? Why do you look sad? This is supposed to be a happy night." He said sweetly, looking into your eyes worriedly. "Its nothing..." You said. "Its something. I can see how uncomfortable you are." He said. "Well, I just feel out of place. I mean, look at all the beautiful girls here. They are so pretty and ladylike. They look like they were meant for this place. Why did you pick a girl like me when there are so many other girls that look like that in the world?" You asked looking down. "Baby look at me." Jonathan said. "I don't like girls like that. They are the type of girls that blend in with the crowd. Look at them, there is nothing special about them. They are all similar. The moment you walked into the school, my eyes went to you. You immediately stood out to me as a girl that I knew I had to get to know. The way your eyes shined, the confidence that you had when you walked into a room, the clothes you wore, the way you styled your hair, everything! Everything about you compelled me and drew me in. When I got to know you, I loved you even more! Your personality, your smile, your laugh, you voice, the way you treated me and looked at me. You stand out. Your perfect. Your MY perfect little goofball that makes me laugh and smile every day. You complete me, you complete my life. I...I love you Y/N. I love you so much and I truly don't know what I would do without you." He finished, looking at you with so much love.
At this point you had silent tears falling and you had no words. You were so touched. "I love you too Jonathan!" You said as you hugged him tightly. He smiled and kissed your head softly. "Now, its our one year anniversary! Lets enjoy this food and then give our gifts, baby." He said. You nodded and both started to eat and have fun conversation. Soon you were both finished, full and ready to give your gifts. "Ok Jonathan, I want to go first." You said excitedly. You pulled out the bag that had the rings in it and gave it to him. He pulled out the box and opened it up. "Baby! I love it!" He said as he pulled the ring out, examining it and putting it on. "Here let me put yours on too!" He said slipping yours on your ring finger. "They are amazing baby! Thank you so much!" He said excitedly. "Your welcome babe! I'm really glad you like them." You said. "Ok my turn!" He said as he pulled out a big wrapped frame. You looked at him confused as to how he managed to sneak it into the restaurant. "Well go on, open it." He urged. "You ripped the paper off and smiled widely. In the frame was a picture of the constellations from the night you and Jonathan started dating. You smiled like a mad man and hugged Jonathan tightly. "Thank you! This is so sweet! I love it! I'm going to hang it up as soon as I get home!" You said and gave him a kiss thank you.
You two thanked each other for the gifts once more and then drove home after a nice night out. You went to bed thinking of Jonathan and how much you love him and how lucky you were to have him. Soon enough you fell asleep with a smile.
