Three days later

Asa

"Miss Maxwell" a voice called from behind me Just as I was about to get into the waiting car.
I just got off work, and a hot bath and a meal was the only thing on my mind.
"But it seems that won't be happening"I muttered to myself, as I turned around and saw Kieran's driver.
I felt an unwanted frisson of unease despite myself... what now?

I successfully deluded myself into believing Kieran already forgot about me since I hadn't heard a word from him since our last meeting. I guess not...

Although, I'll say I was woman enough to admit that the thought that he might have given up on pursuing so soon kinda stung a little.

I was supposed to hate him, not crave his attention...

"what do you want?"I asked the driver albeit a little bit rudely, but you can't blame me.

"Mr. Preston has requested that you come with me" he answered politely, which made me feel bad.

"I don't understand?" I asked confused

"I am supposed to bring you to his Townhouse" he replied.

"He'll be taking up temporary residence there for the next couple of days as his penthouse is undergoing some repairs" he continued.

I didn't ask, but ok.

"And if I refuse to accompany you?" I asked with a little scoff.

"He asked for your presence by any means necessary," he said with an apologetic look and inclined his head towards the direction of a waiting car where a man who appeared to be a bodyguard stood with his arms folded in front of him.

"He can't be serious" I laughed in disbelief
"He is completely serious ma'am"
What to do?
I could just get into my car and drive away... I was standing so close to the open door, they was nothing they could do about it. At least not right this moment...

"Any problem ma'am?"
I turned to see my driver Bailey standing by the car door with a suspicious stare fixed on Kieran's driver.

"I'm sure Bailey," I replied reassuringly, "An old friend of mine just asked for a last-minute meeting, is all."
"I'll find my way home later"
"Are you sure?" He asked his expression still a little bit suspicious.

"Yes I am," I said with a fond smile "I'll call to inform you about my schedule tomorrow, so don't worry"

"Okay" he answered finally, "if you say so, good night then"
"Good night"
I moved away from the car as he got in, put it in motion, and drove off.

I turned around with a sigh and followed Preston's driver to the car. The bodyguard dude already had the car door open for me, and I got in.

They both got in after me, and we drove off.

15 minutes later, we pulled up in front of a townhouse in Tribeca.
We got out and the bodyguard gestured for me to follow him as he guided me past the gates, and climbed up the steps to the front door, which he opened for me to go in.

He led me past a tastefully furnished living room into a hallway. He opened one of the closed doors into what appeared to be a home office.
A desk was placed in front of a huge ass window that spanned the wall on all four sides, with curtains lining it. The decor was a fusion of old money and sleek modernity.

And seated at the desk was the bane of my existence, Kieran.
He looked so good today...

"You're here," he smiled, as he leaned back into his seat, spinning a pen between his fingers.

He was wearing a black dress shirt, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and his forearms exposed.
His dark blonde hair was in artful disarray like he repeatedly ran his fingers through it...
The sight of him seating there, behind that desk. Looking so sexy, made me feel weak.

The sound of the door closing shut behind me brought me out of my thoughts.
I focused on his face, only to find him staring at me with a knowing look in his eyes.

Asshole

"what do you want?"I asked without preamble, "why did you bring me here?"

Standing up from his seat he stalked towards me slowly.

My God, his stride was so sexy.
And he was so tall.
And that was one thing I always loved in a man.

"Come with me," he said as he moved passed me and out the door, leaving me no choice but to follow after him.
We went up the stairs and stepped onto a mahogany lined hallway.
He stopped and opened the last door at the end of the hall and walked in.
Stopping at the door, I looked in and saw it was a bedroom.

His bedroom from the looks of things.
