A good while later the limousine had arrived outside the venue.

Jasper had quickly briefed Tye on the way there about who would be at the venue and that she should keep a low profile.

The venue was hosted by Micheal, the leader of Nuwa to strengthen the alliances he had with other gangs.

None of the gangs there should be hostile but if it came to it, Jasper had Omega give him some escape routes that he and Tye memorized.

The gala was being held inside of the Nuwa mansion. The perimeter was surrounded by a huge black fence and cameras every few feet.

Nearing the gates Jasper took out an envelope with a stamp that had a creature that was human from the waist up and dragon the other half.

A figure materialized from the shadow's itself approached them. It was short, barely up to Tye's shoulder, shrouded in a black cloak not unlike the one she had left at The Wolves.

A pale hand reached out and grabbed the envelope and inspected it. Once it was satisfied th figure hobbled towards the gate.

They opened, seemingly on command, and the figure proceeded along the cobblestone path.

Tye and Jasper, having no better idea, followed it.

They were led through the front gardens, and if their new acquaintance hadn't set such a fast pace Tye would have stopped to admire the stone carving that lined the path.

A good thing about the garden was that you could no longer smell the acrid scent of sewer water and garbage. It was replaced by the intoxicating perfume of exotic flowers.

If Tye didn't know better she would have thought she was back inside The Circle, with the pristine conditions of everything around her.

A grand staircase greeted them at the front entrance, leading up to massive double doors, engraved with gold details. The doors seemed to be held open by a mysterious force, since no one seemed to be holding them open.

Their guide led them through the spacious walls of the estate.

The walk was suffocatingly quiet, the only sound being the hollow drum of their steps.

Tye felt herself strain to hear another sound, music, voices, anything at all.

Jasper had made her memorize the layout of the estate, Tye now knowing it so well she could have lived here her entire life.

She knew that after three right turns and two left they would arrive at the ballroom, the most likely place for the gala.

That was exactly where their guide led them. They were now standing in front of another set of doors, these slightly smaller than the ones at the entrance.

The muffled sounds of an orchestra could be heard through the thick wood.

Once the doors opened, Tye could see that Micheal had spared no expense.

Tye and Jasper were at the top of another staircase, overlooking the festivities.

The ballroom had polished wood floors, covered mostly by dancing figures. The walls were lined with tables full of food and desserts. A grand chandelier hung above the dance floor bathing the room in a warm welcoming glow.
