"This is Erin Lindsay, 32 years of age, 7 months pregnant, was hit by an oncoming vehicle when her car blew a tyre and veered on to the other side of the road. She was in and out on route but lost consciousness about 5 minutes ago, she was intubated on scene" said the paramedic to Dr Owens as they rushed her in to the E.R at New York Presbyterian. "Lift on my count 1,2.. 3". Getting her onto the bed they quickly cut off her clothes and checked for any other injuries. "Theres nothing more that's visible" Dr Owens said before checking her pupils and lung sounds. "Her pupils are reacting perfectly to light but I can hear decreased breath sounds on her left side, lets take a full body x-ray and then we'll check the baby" he says as they all stood back waiting for the x-rays to pop up on the screen. "Ok she has a severely broken ribs and it looks like one may have pierced the lung, so she may be bleeding internally we need to get her in to theatre now, someone call OB and have them meet us up there and someone find her next of kin". A nurse runs out to reception to make the calls whilst the rest of the team quickly take her up to the operating theatre.

Back in Chicago...
Hank POV
"Voight" I said as I answered the phone "Detective Voight, this is Agent Chandra West, Erin's boss". "Oh yeah how's she doing?" I couldn't help but smile at the mention of my daughter's name. "That's what I'm calling you about" she said "Erin's been in a car accident, she's at New York's Presbyterian". I walked into my office, closed the door. "How bad is it?" I asked. "I'm not sure I'm still at the office but I know they had to rush her into surgery, I'm heading over there now. We've already bought two tickets for you and Jay it leaves in 1 hour". She said "Oh and Hank, there's one more thing, she's 7 months pregnant". My heart dropped. "Okay Chandra, thanks for telling me, we'll be there shortly". I couldn't believe it I thought, not only is my daughter in surgery but so was my grandchild. I picked up the photo I had of Erin on my desk and just stared at it through my cloudy eyes. Then it hit me, if she's 7 months pregnant that must mean... I wiped away the tears in my eyes and looked out the window of the door I could see him laughing with the guys. I stood up and opened the door "Jay, my office".

Jay POV
We had near on finished for the day so me and Antonio was having fun winding Ruzek up for the cheap shot he received while arresting a suspect earlier in the day. Then I heard "Jay, my office" I looked over at the office to Hank standing there, then at the rest of the unit wondering what I'd done now. "Close the door" he said. As I walked in I looked at his face to try and read the situation, it wasn't anger I saw on his face but worry, it even looked as though he'd been crying. "What's up Sarge" I said. "You might want to take a seat" he said pointing towards the chair opposite, now I was worried too. "It's Erin" he said rubbing his forehead. "Voight what's happened?" My worry now turning into panic. "I just had a call from her boss Jay, she's been in a car accident and they've just rushed her to surgery". I instantly started to well up, I didn't know what to do, I hadn't spoken to Erin in 6 months but she was still the love of my life. I just stood up and began pacing the room. "I need to go" I said "I need to get to New York now". Hank put his hand on my back stopping me in my tracks "Agent West and her team have already arranged the flights it leaves in one hour from Midway, I'll meet you there". So I rushed out of Voight office, grabbed my phone and jacket then quickly headed home.

Back at the apartment I couldn't think straight, a million and one things were running through my head. Was she gonna make it, what do I say to her if she does. Oh my god what if she doesn't make it I thought, shaking my head I brought myself out of from those thoughts. I can't be thinking like that. Wiping away the tears that were now flowing freely I ran to the bedroom and grabbed my duffle bag from the closet. I was unsure how long we'd be there so I frantically started to pack anything and everything I might need before getting back in the car and driving to the airport. There I met Voight at the check in desk before making a run to departures, getting there just as they were calling our flight. So we set of for New York.
