Kalen
It was just like any other Sunday. We were all gathered in the large living room, surrounded by close friends and family.
Felix, who was now eight months old, crawls around the room. Exploring the space with his newfound ability. Toby walks close behind our pup, making sure he didn't get himself into any trouble.
Toby had been doing so much better ever since he started going to therapy. We all had. Sage and I formed a stronger relationship and he made amends with his mates and my parents.
I was so much closer with my mates now that we were learning healthy communication skills. The cord of our mating bond was thicker, more tightly wound. There wasn't a day that went by where my heart wasn't swelling with love.
A smile tugs at my lips as my son crawls over to me, pulling at my pant leg. His wide, blue, doe-like eyes gaze up at me. They shimmered with recognition, a smile blossoming on his little face. His chubby cheeks were flushed a rosy red, his gleeful grin showing off his two front teeth.
"Dada," He squeals, making grabbing hands at me. "Dada! Up, up!"
I pick him up, placing him on my lap. Felix cuddles close to me, repeating my name over and over again along with a string of gibberish.
"Hey, baby," I pull him back so I could look him in the eyes.
He looked tired, his little fists rubbing his eyes and nose. He coos, reaching for my face. I knew exactly what he was going for, turning my head so his fingers could grab onto my ear.
Felix rubs my ear, nuzzling his head under my chin. I feel his whole body relax against mine. My wolf chuffs happily at the thought of our pup finding comfort in my arms.
I feel the couch dip, Toby and Harper taking a seat on either side of me. Harper greets me tiredly, leaning his head against my shoulder.
Harper has just gotten back from a last-minute meeting. He told me not to worry, saying he'd go alone. He looked exhausted, but not too tired to give the snack table a visit. Two of grandpa Eden's famous brownies sat on his paper plate.
Harper had filled out to a healthy weight after losing an ungodly amount from when Toby was banished. I was glad that Harper filled out. He wasn't as heavy as he used to be and Harper liked that. He was still self-conscious but was glad that he was thinner.
I couldn't care less how much Harper weighed or what he looked like. I just wanted him to be happy and healthy.
Harper smiles as he catches my gaze. He kisses my cheek, soft lips pressing gently against the area.
"How was the meeting?" I ask, wiping his hair from his forehead.
"It was alright. We were able to come to an agreement about the unclaimed territory."
One of our allied packs merged with another, which meant there was now an empty land plot. Harper's old pack demanded ownership of all of the new land, claiming they needed the space for recreational purposes. We wanted the land for training purposes as our warrior barracks were becoming overcrowded.
Although we were allies, we weren't close. We only spoke to each other if we needed to. They didn't seem to want to give up the land easily, so I sent Harper over in an attempt to quell their demanding behavior.
