It was yet another boring day of school for Camila. She didn't mind all too much though. She took all the time she could away from home. To her, anything beat listening to her parents fight constantly over the stupidest yet the most realistic things. Camila never dealt well with conflict. Camila was the one who stood on the sidelines and watched the party move and the people dance. As apposed to actually joining in on all the fun.

It was easier for her to watch things go down instead of being apart of it and it was easier to fantasize about it rather than making it a reality.

For instance, the cheer team. Camila loves dancing and she was a pretty amazing cheerleader but she'd never throw herself out there and tryout for the team. It just simply wasn't her thing. Instead, she fantasized about how great it'd feel to be apart of such a huge clique in high school.

Camila had friends. None of them were too close to her but she had friends that she could walk to class with and share math answers with. The thought of having a best friend, a friend so close that you could tell them anything, seemed impossible and unreal. Which would explain Camila's fantasies about finding a close friend. Not that she was really harping on it.

But there was someone that had always caught her eye in high school. As he did for many of the girls at Ridgeway High. But for Camila, it wasn't just because of his popularity and his looks. She was amazed by how free he always seemed. He never second guessed anything he said or did. He had no regrets and it seemed to make such a good impression on people. It was almost as if he had no reason to dream the dreams she had. Dreams that would never ever be said out loud or even come true in the first place.

More often than not, Camila would find herself walking to the library instead of straight home where she knows she'll hear some kind of bickering from her parents. The library was quiet, something Camila admired but it was also easier to get things done there. Which is exactly why she was there now. She would take her usual window seat that overlooked the fresh, green patches of grass with dandelions growing in between.

Her routine was simple and precise. She'd buy her usual coffee, grab a book or whatever homework she had and sat herself down at her spot with her AirPods in with the most calming music playing, softly. Almost everything was perfect that day for her up until she had seen her spot that was taken by the captain of the soccer team, Shawn Mendes.

She was taken back at the sight. He was reading a book but it was clear that he was not enjoying one bit of it. Camila found it cute but brushed it off, not sure why she thought the way she did. She shook off all of her nerves and strutted her way towards him. It may have been wrong for her to ask for the spot because there were many other spots to be taken but she didn't want them, all she wanted was this one spot.

She cleared her throat in attempts to capture his attention which was successful. "Umm...I don't mean to be rude but...this is like...my spot. So, if you'd please...um...move?" It didn't come out as confident as she would've liked but at this point, she didn't care. What she did care about was him moving so she could take a seat.

He smiled up at her and shook his head. "Cabello, yeah?"

"Camila...yes." She pressed her fingers deep into the cover of her book, hugging it, tightly. She had no idea why she was so nervous to be around him. Could it have been because he was an upperclassman? No. It wasn't that. She had no idea.

"Why don't we sit together...I have nothing better to do." He shrugged, standing up to pull her chair out which made Camila blush but she hid it under her knitted sweater. At first, Camila felt weird about sitting across from him as she read through her book and once in awhile, she'd look up to him staring at her which he'd brush off.
