It's been only a few days since they had last hung out and Camila missed him. Oddly enough, she missed him to the point where she felt as though she was attached to him.Granted, that was scary and something that should never happen because she should be independent and not relying on some guy. However, that didn't change the fact that she missed him.
It was a hectic week for Shawn and he pensively felt horrible about leaving Camila in the dust. The sport Shawn loved involved an incredible amount of training. Especially pre-season. That consisted of many diets and workouts. Everyone on the team, even the ones who were just sub ins, worked extremely hard. This would explain as to why Shawn was amazing at soccer. He had no problem just dancing around with the ball at his feet with ease and to Camila and the rest of the school, it was entrancing and impressive. Satisfying, even, to see him work as hard as he did.
Nevertheless, Camila understood this and she made it incredibly clear that she had no want in the world to get in the way of his hard work. Though, Shawn assured her with the most kind eyes that she was never in the way of that and he'd make it up to her.
He did. Once he figured out his schedule, he found a way to work around it to make plenty of time for Camila. Not everyone loved the fact that Shawn and Camila were getting closer by the day, especially the girls but the two didn't give them much attention. Instead, they focused on themselves and each other.
Shawn's soccer mates were always the kindest to Camila but that would never be a problem in the first place considering they loved her.
It made Shawn's heart warm to see both his soccer mates and Camila get along so well. In fact, it seemed that they liked her more than they liked Shawn. With that being said, Shawn made sure to keep an extra eye out on the guys who may or may not be infatuated by the Cuban that was currently eating out with them.Shawn clung to Camila's side as if his life depended on it. Making it known that the boys on his team could back off and find someone else to hit on. Anyone but his Camila.
That didn't stop some of the guys from trying. The soccer team was close but the new guys this year that were added as substitutes think that they have it all when really, they're still at the beginning.
One being a prestigious and talented player named Ryan Morgans. He's new to the school but many knew of him from his 'bad boy' past at his other school. This included Shawn and Camila. They both knew who he was and how much of work he is. Yet, Shawn made an attempt to be as welcoming as he could as captain of the soccer team and as for Camila, she tried her hardest not to cringe at his failing attempts to flirt with her.
"Come on...a pretty girl like you shouldn't be here. A real man takes you out on a date." Ryan was in the middle of convincing Camila to go on a date with him and as strenuous as it was for Shawn to keep his cool, he managed. As for Camila, she was set on being disinterested because really, she wasn't interested.
Shawn would be lying if he said that he wasn't embarrassed that instead of taking Camila out on dates and doing the most luxurious things to make her feel special and free like she deserves, he was instead in a diner with her and his soccer mates after a few hours of training after school.
Camila shrugged, "I'm actually enjoying myself but...thanks Ryan." It was her way of letting him down nicely. Shawn almost snickered at the sight of Ryan's face dropping, "not even one date?" Camila shook her head. "Nope. I have my eyes on someone at the moment but once again, thank you." Everyone started to chuckle and poke fun at the rejection that Ryan had just received.
As for Shawn, he sat next to Camila frozen. She had her eyes on someone and he wasn't sure if it was him or not. He didn't want to get his hopes up but at the same time, Shawn prayed to all the gods out there that she was merely implying that it was him.
