"Anna, I think I've seen that car somewhere."

I tried to rummage through my brain in response to the sudden nostalgic feeling that was bombarding me, all to no avail. But my gut couldn't possibly be wrong.

"Really? Where?" Anna suddenly faced me, supporting her chin on her palm and furrowing her eyebrows.

"I don't know. That's the problem. But it suddenly made me feel some type of way. Like, like something I need to know but I don't."

"You're really starting to sound weird right now. I mean, aren't there other SUV's you've ever come across?"

"Yeah I know but..."

"I think you've got extra recovering to do. Let's take a walk before you get worse."

From where we were, I could tell there were two guys in the car. Just then, the car's door opened and out came a guy that I presumed was in his mid-twenties in blue jeans and a polo shirt. He seemed to be listening keenly to the other guy that was still inside, all covered up in a hoodie and what seemed like shades. Why would anyone dress like that on such a sunny day?

"Hazy I think they're looking at you."

"Oh come on An, what is there to look at in me? They should know you're the one that gets featured in most magazines."

"Psst... As if you weren't someone's fiancé."

"Hey man take a look at those cuties, ain't they adorable?" Phil says while gesturing at two girls walking casually to the parking lot. Craning my neck from inside the car, one of them suddenly draws my attention. The honey hair, olive brown skin...

You have no idea what's coming. But you'll be good. I promise.

"We need to leave now, she can't see me."

"What? We just got here and you want to leave already?"

"Get whatever you're getting faster than you are at noticing pretty girls."

"Ouch that was mean!" Phil whines placing a hand on his chest and feigning pain.

"You really are a kid."

"So are you planning to show yourself to her any time soon?" Phil broaches the touchy subject again, setting a bowl of pasta on the marble table.

"No, not yet. She's gone through so much already. She's just lost someone she loves and I wanna give her time to get back on her feet. She could get a heart attack."

"Woo! Behold! The most considerate and emotional man there is... haha.." Phil says between mouthfuls making me sigh in agitation. "So you're planning to stay covered up forever or what... either way she'll be shocked out of her wit."

For as long as it takes...

For as long as it takes...

Mrs. Ross's P.O.V

"Martha!"

"Yes ma'am?"

"I want you to pack all of Matt's stuff right now."

"Uhmm... why ma'am?"

"We're moving out."

"Okay ma'am."

Setting the old family photograph down, I realized that I couldn't ignore the emptiness that Matt had left in me, no matter how much I tried. How could it be that my only son had to die so mysteriously?

The police had kept on frequenting my home and making endless promises to do everything they could to bring the perpetrator to book but nothing. They even left Matt's room in complete disarray only to come out with nothing to show for it.

To some extent I had my doubts about that Hazel girl. I mean, she's a sweet girl and all but who knows if she had a hand in my son's death for whatever reason? But then why in the world would she murder him or arrange for him to be killed just a few months to their wedding? This whole circus wasn't making any sense to me. Its a good thing I had my husband by my side, otherwise I'd have been schizophrenic long ago.

"Hey honey! You're ready yet? Everything's set for our travel...

 Wait, are you okay?"

"Its just that there's such a big void after Matt's death that I can almost touch it. I don't think things will ever be the same again without him Arnold." Once again I helplessly broke down in the arms of the only source of strength I had left.

"Calm down now, we have each other and we'll get through this. I assure you."

"Hello Inspector Brett.."

Mr. Ross, we've done a thorough search through the items that were found on the crime scene but we've not found any clear leads up to now.

"No leads yet?"

Not yet. But we found your son's phone and we were able to retrieve his previous conversations before he met his death.

"Wow that is good progress. The information should be useful in the investigation."

We're positive that it will. My men and I will be paying you a visit later for further questioning.

"Okay we'll be expecting you."

Alright sir.

"Thank you so much Inspector."

From the kitchen, I could hear my husband speaking to the Inspector over the phone and even though there were some things he didn't know yet, it was fair to say that he was the best father and husband that any family could wish for.

"Honey! I'll be heading upstairs to take my shower. In case your hear the doorbell that'll be Inspector Brett. He's on his way here."

"Okay hun... Thank you so much"

Flashing a warm smile and planting a soft peck on my cheek, he left me wondering how I'd have survived without him.

Suddenly the doorbell rang and I braced myself for the best or worst.

"Good evening Mrs. Ross."

"Good evening Inspector. Anything yet?"

"Yes. Could you please call your husband?"

"I'm sorry but he can't join us now."

"Okay I'll go straight to the point."

"Please go on..."

"We found something very important in your late son's phone."
