Hazel's P.O.V
"Bye mom! Bye Lily!" I mouthed gulping down the last contents in my porcelain cup embedded the name 'HAZE' as I literally ran to the door. Who would want to be late on the first day of work?
"Don't forget your carrot juice! Love you!" As old as I thought I was in my blissful twenty two, mom still made sure she packed a snack or two whenever I was going somewhere.
Closing the door behind me, I was greeted by a pink envelope at my doorstep that I couldn't have missed.
Hesitantly picking it up and looking around to confirm if the sender could still be in the vicinity, I opened it and it read: "Have a beautiful day." Scanning every corner of the paper in the hope of finding a name, even a letter, anything at all, there was nothing.
I hadn't the slightest idea who it could have been from. Anna wouldn't do that and I didn't have an ex that would be trying to sneak his way into my life. Matt had been the first man I'd ever dated and loved. As for secret admirers, I wouldn't entirely be sure because I was painfully antisocial.
Deciding to worry about it later, I stepped into my old Chevrolet Malibu and made for my dream job.

"Why did you send her the note? You might be worsening things man."
Sipping my glass of milk(you heard me, I love milk) while staring down at the lively city from the glass wall, I couldn't quite figure out how to answer Phil. A part of me knew too well that he was right but didn't want to accept it immediately.
"Relax Phil... she won't know who sent it."
"Yeah but what about her peace of mind? I thought you wanted her to be 'happy' and live an 'unbothered' life". Phil said making quotation marks in the air mockingly.
"Course I want her to be happy. And I'm doing everything in my power to make sure of that."
"What are you really planning? We are friends but you can be pretty unpredictable sometimes." He added giving me a weird look.
"You'll see how things will unfold Phil. Meanwhile just keep being the good right hand man and friend that you've always been."
Diverting my attention to the nice view, I could hear Phil sighing impatiently. He was my friend but there are things I needed to work out alone.
"Excuse me sir, you have a call from the office."
My meditation was suddenly cut short again.
"Who is it Max?
"Its your secretary Miss Avni. She says she needs to speak with you."
Hello sir?
Avni's typical Hindu accent always served to brighten my mood.
"Avni, whats up?"
"Sir the Esco Glazing Construction Group has agreed to the contract proposal we sent them."
"That is good Avni. Thank you."
"Something else sir, they would like you to participate in a fair and seminar that will be hosted in London next month."
"I'll give my feedback the soonest time possible. Good day."

Hazel's P.O.V
"Hazel why have you never told me about this place? The pasta here is so delicious. I could eat twenty nine plates!" Ron, my colleague mouthed, clearly enjoying every bit of his plate of Chinese cuisine.
"Haha Ron you're just something else. Why not thirty?"
"Because I have a thing for odd numbers that's why." Ron joked swirling his pasta around his chopsticks while licking his lips simultaneously.
"By the way Hazy... do you have a sister? If she shares your genes then I wouldn't mind bidding bachelorhood farewell. I'm just tired of being single. But," He paused dramatically raising his index finger. "I still maintain that girls are hard to put up with."
"You want to see a photo of her?" I teased raising my left brow playfully.
"Oh bring that phone here!"
Glued onto the screen with his lower lip almost falling into his plate, I couldn't help but laugh at his reactions and exaggerated facial expressions.
"Hazel do you believe what they say? That you know who your soulmate is when you see them?"
I wasn't sure if Lily could like Ron the same way. I mean, he was too silly and he played too much. Sorry, no offense. Haha...
"Yes Ron, but I don't think you have yet. You're just never serious with anything. Besides, my sister is waay to picky with men."
"Oh you watch and take notes. She'll swept off her feet in no time." He added mischievously making me wonder how he'd even approach her in the first place. One look from Lily was enough to reduce cowardly men into a stammering mess.
"Well good luck with that."
"By the way, what's up with you? How's your love life? And who's the lucky prince?"
"Your pasta's getting cold, and I need to get home. Mom must be getting worried. Now hurry up."
"You should know that that topic is far from over."

"Hey mom! Hey Lily!"
"Our lil girl's finally hoome!" Mom chirped engulfing me in a bone-cracking hug and smothering me with kisses allover my face. One whole day away from my mom was enough to make me want to hug her like I'd not seen her for ages. I just never had enough of her. I literally cried when I went to boarding school and had to be away from her. And for a whole term!
"Come on mom, Haze ain't a child anymore. I don't see why you should treat her like one." Lily complained rolling her eyes and shaking her head that had been reduced to a heap of curly mess due to the long naps she always insisted were responsible for her flawless skin.
"Now that's where you're wrong. She'll always be my lil Hazy." Mom muttered cupping my face in her palms and pinching my cheeks. Is there anyone else in the world that could ever be as sweet as her?
"Lily bring the food and the plates. Your sister must be tired and worn out."
Not long after we'd started eating, mom suddenly spoke.
"By the way Hazy, someone was looking for you earlier today."
