The fist seemed to materialise out of nowhere, smashing into Zachariah Malak's face, knocking him to the floor.
He managed to dodge a fist that landed on the ground an inch away from his head, he kicked up into his attacker's stomach. As the force of the kick pushed the assailant backwards, Zachariah knocked their unstable legs from under them, making them fall to their back.
Before the assailant could get back up, Zachariah kicked him over and pinned his arms behind his back with his knee.
"I told you I was done," Zachariah hissed into the pinned man's ears.
"Well that just don't cut it with the boss, sorry mate," was the grumbled response of the attacker.
"Well you can go to your boss and tell him to shove it-" Zachariah was cut off with a jolting pain in his side.
It took him a second to realise that the attacker had managed to pull out a gun from God knows where, and shoot him.
He looked up at the sound of screeching tires, and cursed at the sight of three black vehicles.
Of course they'd bring backup.
Without a second's thought, he wrested the gun from the man under him and smashed the but of the gun into his head.
Getting up off the sidewalk, he ran into the nearest alley, urging his legs to carry him as fast as they could, ignoring the piercing pain from his gunwound.
He turned right into an intersecting alleyway and kept zigzagging his way through the alley. He kept running until he was sure that any people who may have been chasing him would lose his tale.
He was just about to cross the road, out of the alley, and into a convencience store when a voice stopped him in his tracks.
"Well, you look like you need a hand."
Zachariah relaxed and turned towards the voice. He let a slightly hitched laugh of relief.
"You wouldn't believe how glad I am to see you," Zachariah gruffed.
Clapping him on the back his friend, pointed to a biege Corolla.
"Let's go man, I know a place where you'll be safe. I'll tell you everything on the way."
