Ram's POV
I am going to sleep, so don't worry if I don't answer your call or message. Finish your meeting then come back to me. I love you.
"I love you, too." I sigh typing a reply and send it to Priya.
Some important meeting came up and I had to come to the office to attend it even when I am on leave. I am thoroughly annoyed and I didn't want to come, but Priya forced me. I am scared to leave her alone, especially when any moment she can go into labor.
Honestly, I am having nightmares of missing my baby's birth.
I am trying to focus on the meeting, but my mind is somewhere else. I have asked Vik to be at home and make sure nothing happens. One hour into the meeting and I am already feeling extremely anxious. My eyes shift towards my phone from time to time.
Fuck this meeting, I want to go home to Priya.
My phone screen lights up displaying Priya's name. Without even excusing myself I quickly pick up the phone.
"What happened? Are you alright?" My words sound rush.
When I don't get any response from her, other than breathing sound, my heart drops in my stomach.
"You can continue the meeting without me, I am going." I turn my face away from the phone, and inform everyone in the meeting room. Not waiting for their reply I walk outside the room, making my way towards the elevator.
"Baby, answer me, are you alright?" I again ask her trying to sound calm while I press the elevator button.
"Ram," she whispers and her voice sounds strained, "It's time."
Momentarily I freeze on my spot, hearing these words. She doesn't need to explain any further because I know what does she mean.
"Shit, don't' worry, stay calm...I am coming." I hurriedly say and take stairs to the parking lot.
"Come directly to the hospital." She manages to say between breathing.
"Ram, we are on our way to the hospital." Next voice I hear is of Vikram, "You directly reach there," he says and hangs up the call.
Climbing inside the car, I rush outside the parking lot.
"I should have stayed with her and never listened to her." I slap the steering wheel in frustration, as navigate through the traffic. It will take around forty-five minutes to reach the hospital from here.
I reach the hospital in record time, parking the car, I nearly run inside the hospital. Vikram comes towards me as soon as he sees me.
"They got her admitted and she is in room number 16," he says without wasting any time and motions me to follow him.
"Thank you." I nod and follow him.
"Is she doing okay?" I ask him while I keep reading the numbers on the doors as we pass them.
