The heat wasn't bothering Saffron but the wind that blew so strong through this little valley town was getting on her nerves, Saffron struggled to keep her head on as she carefully followed behind the King and Queen as they met with people who waved flags and cheered. Saffron looked around at the crowd, she knew people from other towns and cities had come out.
Peatsland was a medium sized town just outside of the biggest dragon college that side of the Capital, so it had a good number of people in its residence but as Saffron looked around she knew there were more than just the residents.
Saffron took in the view, her eyes scanned over the mossy roofs and the flags that spanned the buildings as they flapped in the wind proudly. Her eyes looked at shop signs and storefronts that spotted handmade goods and dresses positioned tactically to draw in more customers.
Her attention started to shift back to Flame, and as she watched him shake hands and hooves with a smile as he chatted she noticed something was off. She looked over to Comet who only smiled to himself, she elbowed him and he looked over at her with a grumpy face. "Are we at the halfway mark?" Saffron questioned in a low tone, Comet took out a piece of paper and scanned over it.
He nodded and Saffron whipped her head back over to the two royals, and she quickly picked out what was wrong with that picture. "Do you know what's wrong with him?" Saffron questioned with a sour face, Comet tilted his head and looked at what Saffron was looking at. He squinted his eyes and after a small pause he just shook his head.
Saffron stamped her hoof in anger and she made a small gesture over to Flame, but Comet still just shook his head with a shrug. "Normally by now he would go to the other side but he hasn't left her side!" Saffron explained with large gestures, Comet raised an eyebrow and looked over at the two. "And he keeps whispering to her." Saffron hissed through gritted teeth, Comet gave her a look and his eyebrows arched.
"Do you think something is wrong with her?" Comet asked with a gentle tone, Saffron just threw her head up in the air with a snort. Her attention was drawn over to the group of journalists who were apparently listening into their conversation, Saffron smiled to herself and looked back to Comet. "She could be sick, or getting sick. Maybe they're not telling us something." Saffron suggested as she eyed the group of reporters.
Comet followed her gaze and when we watched as the reporters started to write something down his tail stood up in surprise. Saffron smiled quietly as the group wrote things down and whispered to one another, Comet hissed and elbowed Saffron. "Shut it! You're going to cause rumors!" Comet hissed giving the journalists a look in hope to diffuse their new worries.
Saffron mumbled to herself and she looked back over to the King, who was still attached to the hip with the Queen. Saffron felt her lip twitch and she quickly walked up to him. "King Flame, you need to go to the other side to greet everyone." Saffron said in a whisper, Flame's eyes widened and he looked over to his wife who was accepting flowers from a group of school children, Saffron watched something flick through his expression before he shook his head with a smile. "I almost forgot, Thank you Saffron." Flame whispered back as he quickly left his wife's side and greeted the people on the other side of the road who cheered at his presence.
Saffron slowly walked back to Comet, he gave her a grin but Saffron couldn't help but feel unsatisfied. "Do you think they're fighting?" Saffron pondered looking towards Comet, he just laughed and Saffron wrinkled her nose at him. "You wish." Comet snickered looking out into the crowd, Saffron just looked back at the Queen as something started to burn deep in her heart.
