I woke up early and opened the blinds. The sun about to rise. I decided to stare at what I could see of the colourful trees while I opened the window to let some air in. As the cold air blew around the room I could feel today was going to be special. First I would need to get ready of course so I turned around to go in the shower. The steam from the shower covered the mirror and my thoughts felt just as hazy. I was both excited and nervous for what was to come of today. As I stepped out I grabbed the towel to wrap my hair and body. I wiped the mirror clear with my arm and stared myself down as I started my makeup. I want to look perfect for today! After several failed attempts at eyeliner I decided to do just a simple look. Light eyeshadow, mascara and some natural lipstick. I unwrapped the towel off my head and grabbed the hair dryer. I plugged it in and turned it on. Singing in my head always passes time quickly so it felt like it was done instantly. I laid the hairdryer down and started to brush my hair. Hopefully my hair will stay this nice looking throughout the day. Next was to choose an outfit. I walked out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. I had several outfits picked to choose from in which I had picked out over the last couple months. Did I mention this was a life changing experience I was preparing for? After many outfits tried on I decided to go with the first one. As I gave myself one last look in the mirror I viewed the mess I had made around me. I quickly cleaned up the mess and then headed downstairs to the kitchen. The frying pan was already waiting for me. I opened the fridge and grabbed an egg. I sprayed the pan so the egg wouldn't stick. The sound of the egg cracking was pleasing to the ears along with the sizzling of it cooking. My favourite way to start the day is with an egg and coffee... odd i know. I scooped up the egg and laid it on the plate. I turned to my coffee maker to only realize I was all out of my pods to make it. I looked quickly in every cupboard and still none to be found. I can't have my breakfast without coffee! My first instinct was to grab my purse so I could jump on my bicycle to head straight to the nearest coffee shop. It was a few blocks away into the city. The sun was just rising and finally blaring down on the pavement. You could feel it's warmth upon my skin but the wind still blew the leaves around. It was a perfect day for this unintentional bike ride. The streets were practically bare as I looked around. A few other bike riders and a car or two passing by. Thank god for 24hr coffee shops because I'd never make it through the day. I kinda zoned out in my own little world while riding as I've taken this route almost every day. Everything was familiar in the outskirts of this smaller community. As I made my way closer to the shop the world started to become a little bit noisier. It was still more quiet then it usually is here though. Many people aren't awake this early unless they have places to be. I decided to pull over and park my bike next to a bench about a block away from the coffee shop. I sat down next to it as I needed to send a quick message to my friend to see if she was awake. I was told last night to wake her up as she would be joining me later tonight for the special event I've been preparing for. As I pressed send on my message I herd a thump next to me.
"Oh I'm sorry" I heard spoken ever so softly.
I wasn't sure what had happened or even what was going on but as I looked up I caught eyes with someone. The person had very dark brown eyes which were almost black. It was the only feature I could make out as they were wearing a mask over their mouth and nose along with a hoodie covering their hair.
"Are you okay?" the voice said at full volume.
The voice seemed familiar but then again I knew almost everyone around here. I still couldn't figure out what was going on. I wasn't hurt so why would this person be asking me this?
"What do you mean?" I say
The person pointed to where my bike was. I followed their arm to their finger to find that my bike was knocked down and another bike was next to it. My bike looked fine other then chain which seemingly had fallen off. I must have looked at it for a solid minute just trying to analyze it. Once I had an idea of what happened I looked back at the person. They were just standing there looking at the bikes also. I could tell by the voice and body shape that it was probably a male but I wasn't for sure.
"I'm fine thank you" I said.
At that point I got up and walked over to my bike and knelt down. I inspected it but I've never had to fix a bike so I knew nothing about it. The bike wasn't new to begin with so I was surprised it was even still working at this point. As I grabbed the chain I felt a shadow over me.
"I didn't mean to run into your bike" they said "I think I know how to fix it"
I turned around to see the person stood over me. They then moved next to me and squatted down while taking the chain out of my hands. I'm still unable to recognize who this was but I could tell they had a calm nature about them. On the bright side they at least seemed to know more about bikes then I did so I just watched as they pieced it back into place as if nothing had happened. Once done they stood up but I happened to notice their knee.
"Oh no! You're bleeding" I said as I pointed.
They looked down and their eyes showed they were just as surprised as I was.
"It's fine" they said.
It clearly didn't look fine. I hate the sight of blood and especially when it's a cut like that. It looks almost as if it was a paper cut so I bet it did hurt and they were trying to hide their pain. I got closer so I could examine. Small rocks had gathered around the cut. I
"I think I have something in my purse to help that" I said.
I reached into my purse and grabbed my small medical kit. I'm clumsy myself so I always have one readily available for things like this. It was of course at the very bottom as I haven't used it yet thankfully. This was the perfect excuse to finally use it. By the time I got it out I looked up and the person was sat down waiting for me.
"Is it fine if I help you?" I say.
They nodded as I opened up a cleaning swab. I surely didn't expect to be looking at someones knees today... especially bloody. I lightly blew on the knee to try to rid it of rocks first. I wanted it to be extra clean for easy healing. I put the swab on it afterwards to disinfect. They flinched as I'm sure most would. That stuff stings but it does the job. Once cleaned I waved my hand as a fan to air dry it before I opened a bandaid and I placed it softy on the cut.
"Thank you so much" they said as they stood up and reached their hand towards me to try to help me up.
I nodded my head with appreciation and grabbed their hand for them to help pull me up. They pulled me with ease as if I was nothing. I was surprised. They must be stronger then they look! Once up i wiped off my knees from kneeling and then I bent back down to pick up the garbage I just created. They stopped me and picked it up. I pointed to the trash can that was conveniently behind me for them to throw it in the trash. Meanwhile I stayed bent down so I could pack up the medical kit back in my bag for future use. When I finally stood up and turned back around; the person had picked up my bike and had rolled it towards me.
"Now are you sure you're okay?" I said back as I grabbed my bike and climbed on.
They shook their head up and down.
"I'm sure! I just wasn't paying attention. My bad" they said as they giggled, "I was trying to find the coffee shop on my phone actually"
My eyes lit up as I knew exactly where that was where I was heading myself as you know. How ironic. At that point they had walked over and got on their bike also.
"Oh! I can show you where that's to" I said.
By now the world around us were slowly starting to wake up. The streets were busier but I hadn't noticed till now. The sun was completely up and it was blaring on us. Funny how everything has gone wrong so far today I thought but hopefully things will work out in the end. I gave the person one last look and nodded my head as I pointed to the direction of the coffee shop.
"It just up here. Follow me" I said.
In that moment they pulled the hoodie off their head and shook their hair. It was something out of the movies I swear. It felt like it was in slow motion and I tried not to stare but I totally did. Idk how to say this but I swear it was the softest hair I've ever seen without touching of course. It was silver flowing in the wind. I quickly had to look away before they noticed. I almost forgot what my goal was but I started to paddle forward. It wasn't long before we pulled up to the coffee shop. They had a bike rack placed in front in which we both tied our bikes on. I was excited to finally be able to get my long awaited cup of coffee! As I pushed the door opened the bell dinged to let the workers know.
"You go first" I said "I'm still choosing"
I looked up on the wall at the signs. At home I would have had a normal black coffee but since I have worked so hard to get here maybe I'll get something different from my usual. There were many different options to choose from but one finally caught my eye. A whipped coffee. I've never had that before but I'm sure I'll love it. In the background I could hear them ordering their drink. Once finished that's when they turned to me.
"What do you want? I'll pay" they said.
I'm not the type to accept gifts like this so I shook my head no.
"No really what do you want?" They said.
I kinda just stared into the void for a bit. I took a deep breath and gave it.
"A whipped coffee please" I said.
They turned back around and handed the cashier their card. I'm sure they could tell I was uncomfortable in that situation but I'll get over it once I get the coffee in me. The cashier handed the card back.
"So what name is for the order sir?" The cashier said.
We spent most of the morning together unintentionally. I kinda forgot we haven't exchanged names so I was interested to hear of course.
"Oh! Rm" he said low enough that only the cashier and I could hear.
I was kinda taken back. As in the real rm from bts I wondered? It surely couldn't be.. I tugged on his hoodie in order to get his attention. He turned to look at me.
"As in namjoon?" I said.
He grabbed my arm pulled me away from the counter and into the waiting area on the side. There were only a few people in the building mostly which were older business looking men. He looked around I'll assume to make sure no one was watching before speaking.
"Please don't draw any attention but yes" he said in a low voice.
I still didn't believe it was him even though he just agreed. Again it couldn't be him. My idol couldn't be standing right in front of me, could he? I mean what is he doing here of all places if it is him?
"You can't be serious" I said.
That's when he reached up behind his ear and took off his mask. I was taken back of course because I didn't believe it even after seeing his face. I just couldn't. It had to be him though. My mouth dropped I couldn't help it.
"Wha-tt are you doing here" I stuttered.
He looked at me and smiled. I've honestly never seen a face so pretty on a man before. I've seen him in photos and videos but never in person. I'd only dream to see him this close. Things went silent as he quickly put the mask back on.
"Order for rm" the cashier said.
He looked me in the eyes. He could probably tell that I was in still shock but I couldn't help it.
"I just headed out to explore this morning before the concert tonight" he said as he walked up to grab our coffees. "Hoping to stay away from cameras"
Until this point I had totally forgot about the concert tonight. That's what this day was all about. My ultimate lifetime goal was for this concert I've been preparing for months. To see all the boys on stage that is.
"Are you coming to see us preform tonight?" He said " I can tell by your reaction and the fact that you know my real name that you know me right?"
I was still blown away by the fact that he of all people were standing right in front of me having a conversation.
"Of course I am! I'm a fan after all" I managed to say.
By the look of his eyes he was smiling under the mask. I can't imagine being him. I'm sure half the world loves him just as much as I do. I wouldn't be able to survive having a camera follow me 24/7.
"Let's go someplace less... full of people" i said.
Namjoon nodded and headed to the bike rack. I followed. I couldn't help but kinda stare at the back of him. I feel like I'm dreaming still...
"Hold my drink" He said as he passed his coffee over to me so he could unlock his bike. The warmth of the drink was nice on my hands especially since it was still windy out.
"Want me to unlock yours?" He said.
I nodded and then proceeded to tell him my combination. Once the bikes were out he took both of them and started to walk forward. I followed. We walked a few blocks with not a single word out of any of us. I didn't know what to say and I think he felt the same.
"Shouldn't your bodyguards with you?" I said out of the blue.
He kept walking and didn't answer right away. At first I was worried I said something wrong but he took a deep breath and started to speak.
"No. This was just a quick trip for fresh air" he said "I didn't expect to have to stop because I ran over someone"
We both laughed. I thought back onto earlier. I can't believe I didn't notice it was him sooner. I've been studying bts and their features for months. I thought I could tell them apart easily by random body parts but I guess that's not the case.
"I guess I ruined your disguise, I'm sorry." I said.
He stopped the bikes and turned around to look at me. He could probably tell by my voice that I wasn't keeping up with him. I had fallen behind. So he waited till I got next to him.
"No worries. I appreciate our little moment we had" he said.
I smiled and blushed.
"How about we just stop here?" he said
I looked around. The place seemed empty away from people which was exactly what he needed. It was still in the city between two tall apartment buildings but away from the busy store fronts at least. The wind wasn't able to blow here but it still felt cold with the sun unable to peak through. He laid our bikes up against the brick wall and then grabbed his drink from me while taking off his mask. He sipped it slowly as he also looked around.
"This place is beautiful" he said "well not here but out there"
He pointed to the trees we just passed. I agree they're pretty but it's never been something i looked at and thought wow that's beautiful untill now. It's just trees that I seen many times before! I decided to sit down on the ground next to the bikes and then drink my coffee. I pulled out my phone to check for message from my friend. There was none. Maybe she's still asleep? He turned around to see me by then. He walked over and slunched down next to me.
"I'm nervous about tonight" he said as he looked over at me.
I thought to myself.. for someone who does many concerts, fan signings, ect you'd expect him to be use to it by now... but at the end of the day he's still human I guess.
"Me too! I hate crowds" I giggled.
He smiled and took out his phone. I peaked over to see the time. It was now 10 am meaning 9 hours till the show. A wave of excitement washed over me untill I remembered that all I ever wanted was right next to me already. I didn't want this to end.
"Hey do you want to take a picture?" He said
I nodded my head as he held his phone up and took a quick photo of us.
"Are you sure that's okay for us to do" I say.
"Now on your phone" he said as he grabbed my phone from my hand.
I honestly didn't expect him to say that. I dreamed about this very moment many times. The chance to have a photo I took of namjoon on my phone was a dream... let alone a selfie with him. He held the phone up and took a photo.
"What's your passcode?" He said
I took my phone and put the code in for him then handed it back. I didn't question it till after I already unlocked it. I wonder what his plan is? He covered the phone with his hand so I couldn't see what he was doing. He had it for a few minutes before giving it back.
"What did you do?" I asked.
"Find out for yourself" he said as he smiled.
I turned my phone screen on to see that he had made our photo the lock screen. How sweet! I looked at it for a few seconds and then a notification popped up. I read "look to your left". Confused I looked over to him holding his phone with the photo he took as his lock screen on his phone. I of course smiled.
"We're twinning" he said.
I can't believe such a thing was happening between me and him. This whole day was feeling like a dream.
"Looks like someone has your number now"
I made a surprised face. I honestly didn't even think about that when the message popped up. I have namjoons phone number? Wow!
"I feel like I can trust you." He said as he looked at me.
I could feel his breath on my face but I was still shocked at all that was happening around me so I didn't look at him. I'm awkward when it comes to situations like this. That moment felt like forever but in reality he wasn't able to look at me long because his phone rang.
"여보세요" he said to the phone.
Honestly it was the only thing I could understand in the short conversation he had. I could only imagine who it was or what was being said. At that moment I was very disappointed in the fact that I could only speak one language. Even after many years of learning French I still wouldn't be able to have a conversation in that language either.
"I'm sorry" he said as he hung up the phone.
I half expected him to tell me the conversation in full but i also thought of all the things he probably couldn't share. As a celebrity he has to have many different things going on that need to be kept quiet. What will be the next song released? I have so many questions I don't want to bombard him.
"I have to get back to the boys now" he said as he stood up and offered his hand to haul me up again.
I didn't want this to end but all good things must come to an end eventually. A moment I could only dream about for sure. By now my coffee was finished. I looked around and there was nothing to throw it out. I looked up and Namjoon was still standing in front of me but was looking down at his phone. Must be hard being as busy as him I bet I thought to myself.
"So this is goodbye?" I say.
He looked up and grabbed my coffee cup and put it inside his. That solved my problem i guess. I was half hoping that he'd say that he could stay longer.. but the other side knew that the phone call was probably important.
"Again sorry. I'll see you tonight!" He said as he put his mask on and hood up.
I totally forgot about the concert tonight yet again. I was totally caught up in the moment as always. I didn't ask but I thought to myself what he could mean by "I'll see you tonight". I mean I'll assume he was referring to the fact that I'll be seeing him on stage. Even that I was still excited for as this moment didn't seem real.
"See you" I said as he got on his bike and rode away.
I honestly envisioned him as cowboy riding off into the sunset on a horse but it was completely opposite of course. It was mid day and he was man on a bike. I was wishing I could see his hair flowing in the wind but I got more then I could ask for today already. I wanted to tell the world about it. I know no one would believe me anyways. I picked up my bike and started my journey home. The wind had picked up by now making it colder. It was already windy before but this was a whole different level. Not enough to interfere with steering but I did have to keep my mind on the road. All of a sudden a ring came through on my phone.
"Please keep this between us two" I read.
It was from namjoon of course. I guess that calls off my sharing of it. I didn't know who to tell anyways and I understand that things need to be kept private in his life. That little moment was our little secret now officially.
