"Does she know that she's 'yours' or is this some self-proclaimed title you use to salvage whatever's left of your pathetic ego after she rejected you?" Tsukishima questioned, shooting Kichiro a contemptuous smirk. "Besides, who are you to tell me I don't deserve her?" I already know I don't.
Kichiro opened his mouth to say something else, but was cut off by a knock on the door. Both males glanced at the door, hearing Makoto's voice.
"Kei, hurry up. The food's getting cold, and Noya-san is inhaling everything." Makoto called out, unaware of Kichiro's presence.
"I'll be there in a minute." Tsukishima called out, flashing Kichiro one last fake smile before exiting the bathroom. Kichiro stood there, staring at himself in the mirror.
"Is everything okay?" Makoto asked as she glanced up, noticing Tsukishima's furrowed brows.
"What?" He asked, peering down at her with the same distraught expression.
Makoto's body moved before she could think too much about it. Lifting an arm, she reached up and used her thumb to smooth out his eyebrows. "You're gonna get wrinkles if keep scowling like that."
When realization hit her, she immediately clenched her jaw and turned away. Her cheeks tinted pink, recalling the feeling of his soft skin on her fingers as she stared at his honey-colored eyes. Am I crazy or am I asking for a self-inflicted death?
"Maybe if you stop pouting like a baby, you'll look less childish." Tsukishima snickered, using insults as a defense mechanism to avoid displaying his embarrassment to Makoto openly.
"I'd like to think I'm pretty cute when I pout. Thank you very much, sir." Makoto said playfully, giggling slightly.
"You do."
At the same time, both Tsukishima and Makoto froze. The blond hadn't even realized he had accidentally allowed his thoughts to slip. The ravenette couldn't process the small compliment she was given.
Tsukishima swallowed thickly, turning away from her with his clammy hands in his pockets. "Don't get a big head over it though. I know your ego will blow such a thing out of proportions, midget." He flicked her forehead, walking off to sit down back where he was before.
Makoto held her face, unable to stop the blush that took over her cheeks. Her internal screaming was cut short by Kichiro tapping her shoulder.
"What're doing over here, Makoto?" Kichiro asked, noticing the pink hue on her cheeks. I've..never seen this expression before.
"Let's just go sit down." Makoto cleared her throat and walked over to the table, sitting down where she was before with Kichiro at her side.
Makoto didn't seem to notice the looks Tsukishima and Kichiro would subtly exchange. Though, the tension in the air was getting thicker throughout the dinner.

"Makoto, can we talk?" Kichiro said as he knocked on her door, awakening the female from her half-sleep state.
Makoto stood up from her bed, opening the door to find the entire team standing in front of her. Rubbing her eyes, she yawned, "What's up?"
Takumi picked her like a sack of potatoes and carried her out to the living, dropping her on the couch. He plopped beside her, throwing an arm around her shoulder. "We have something to tell you."
"Uh, go on." Makoto said, raising her eyebrows at the males who looked at each other, silently trying to decide who'd tell her.
"Well," Kichiro spoke up, feeling like he should be the one to tell her. "Your dad..wants you to return home...by the end of the month."
Everyone went silent, awaiting the reaction that Makoto was soon to emit.
"What the fuck?" Makoto spoke lowly, shaking Takumi's arm off her shoulders and standing up. "He wants me to go back now?"
Everyone grimaced, knowing this 'surprise' would not sit well with Makoto. Though, some of them thought she would've been happy to return, so they could hang out again.
"What the fuck makes him think he can just take me back after sending me here because of one mistake?" Makoto snapped, glaring at the males who ashamedly look down. "I love it here and I'm genuinely enjoying myself, but now he wants me home? For what? To sit in that house alone while he leaves everyday for business trips?"
"Makoto, calm do-" Kichiro's extended hand was slapped away by Makoto who narrowed her eyes at him.
"Don't think I forgot that you're the reason why I had to leave in the first place." Makoto growled, stepping away from Kichiro who drew back to give her some space.
"C'mon, Makoto. Don't you think you're being unfair?" Jirou chimed in, unable to keep quiet. "Kichiro-senpai didn't mean to-"
"Fuck off, Jirou. I don't wanna hear anything from an outsider like you." Makoto muttered, rubbing her temples that were beginning to ache. "I can't talk about this right now. I really can't."
Makoto walked off, shutting her room door and locking it. Throwing herself on the bed, she covered herself with her blanket and stared at the ceiling. Half of her was thankful that Hinata decided to stay at Kageyama's house tonight. She wouldn't want him hear all that swearing.
Her eyes glistened as tears pricked them, making her bottom lip quiver. Blinking furiously only made the tears flow faster.
Turning on her side, she grabbed her phone and dialed the number that was at the top of her favorites list.
The phone rang twice before he answered, muttering a sleepy greeting, "Hello?"
Makoto sniffled, feeling the tears pour down her cheeks as the thought of leaving him and everyone else behind filled her mind.
Hearing the sniffles, his eyebrows rose as his sleepiness slowly began to fade away. "What happened? Are you crying?"
Makoto laughed softly, feeling a bit touched by the concerned tone in his voice. "I'm okay. Can you do my a favor?"
He hummed softly, unsure of what this favor would be. Though, he hoped it was something that wouldn't involve getting out of bed. "Go on."
"Can you stay on the phone with me tonight? I'd feel much better with company." Makoto mumbled softly, wiping her tears.
Isn't there like twelve people in your house right now? Despite his mind asking a million questions, he simply hummed, "Mhmm."
Makoto felt her heart explode with butterflies as the blond began to talk quietly while being half asleep . He was honestly a bit embarrassed to be mumbling nonsense for someone, but he did it anyway.
The way his husky voice filled her ears as he spoke quietly made her close her eyes, slipping into dreamland. It was so therapeutic and dream-inducing.
Within ten minutes, Makoto was fast asleep, softly snoring into the phone that sat beside her head. When he was fully assured she was asleep, he closed his eyes and pulled his blanket up to his chin.
"Night, Makoto."
