"Makoto," Her mother called out, peeking her head into her daughter's room. "You okay, honey?"
Makoto laid face-down on her bed with her phone beside her head, going off with notifications from the volleyball team groupchat. She rolled over, blinking her puffy eyes at her mother.
"Yes?"
"How did this even happen?" Her mother asked softly as she took a seat on the bed beside her daughter, placing the back of her hand against Makoto's cheek.
Makoto stuck out her tongue, making a 'bleh' noise. "I don't know. I woke up and I was like this." She coughed lightly.
"Aww, honey. Will you be okay? I have to drop Natsu off at school then go to work." Her mother said softly as she caressed Makoto's cheek. "Are you okay to be here alone?"
Makoto nodded lightly, "Yeah, I'll be fine." She pulled her blanket up to her chin, snuggling into it.
"I left some food on the stove. Eat it when you wake up, okay?" Her mother stood up, exiting the room to begin getting ready for work.
"Nee-chan?" Natsu's soft voice spoke up as a gentle knock sounded at the door. Makoto glanced up, meeting the worried eyes of her younger sister. "Are you okay?"
"Of course, Natsu. Just a little under the weather." Makoto answered, reaching out to hold Natsu's hand. The small female wrapped her hand around Makoto's outstretched hand, squeezing it lightly. "You off to school now?"
"Yes, I hope you feel better, Nee-chan." Natsu slowly let go of Makoto's hand, turning on her heels to leave the room. Makoto gave her a quick wave before turning over and falling asleep.
"Makoto, come on." A voice called out, ushering her in the direction of the voice. As she entered the room, she found the volleyball team in front of her. They smiled up at her, beckoning her over to their side.
"Hurry up and sit down, Makoto!" Hinata shiuted, grinning brightly at Makoto who stood by the door awkwardly. "We've been waiting all day for you!"
"Waiting?"
Suga nodded, smiling softly. "We missed you! You didn't even tell us you weren't coming to school today!"
"Yup! We can't have practice without our favorite supporter there." Nishinoya exclaimed, throwing his hands up excitedly. "It's not the same without you!"
"Really?"
"Yeah! We really can't live without you now!" Tanaka exclaimed as he flashed her a toothy grin. Daichi and Asahi nodded in agreement, along with the other second years.
"Yup. It's boring without your annoying ass there." Kageyama said with a small smirk that made her nearly roll her eyes.
"Say something nice, Tsukishima!"
Makoto turned to Tsukishima who sat off to the side. His lips were curled downwards into a small scowl as he huffed.
"I missed you, I guess."
Makoto stirred awake, glancing around the room with surprise. Her room was dark and empty, leaving her with a cold and empty feeling. It's cold.
"Makoto!!" The shout of her name came from multiple people. Before she could even process it, the door flew open to reveal the entire volleyball team. Her eyes widened as they began placing small containers of food on her desk. "Eat up!"
