"Thank you Butler, now, who would like to have the first serve?"
Where's the girl?
"Chelsea? Have you ever tried rabbit before?"
Where's Carrie?
"Well, uh, yeah. James actually caught quite a few for us while we were living a self-sufficient lifestyle"
Chelsea's dry and horse voice was hardly even being recognized by my mind, it was filled with other thoughts, like, where is she? What happened after she left us? What kind of brother is he? His he even...? IS THIS A TRAP?
"Really? Then James must be good at carving them?"
"No. I actually did all of that"
I couldn't take my eyes off of that rabbit.
"James, you look a bit pale, are you alright?"
"Yeah..."
Rabbit...
"Are you not hungry? The food will go cold"
"No, I don't think I am"
"Why not?" that was not Chelsea.
I finally peeled my eyes away from the horrid sight infront of me so I was able to turn around and see where that feminine voice had come from, and it was Carrie. I can't remember exactly what happened next, but I do remember everything going a bit fuzzy and black....
"Hehehe, as if you thought you'd get away that easy..."
What? "Who's there?"
"You know, but don't wish to admit it. Did you think she'd be the only other one? We're no different, plus, I have something else to offer..."
"Who are you?!"
"You'll figure it out. Eventually. If you don't die first..."...
"Gaahhh!"
"James! Are you alright? What's wrong?"
Oh. It was just a dream. A weird and freakish one.
I had woken up to see the face of my love, staring back at me, concern all over her face, "Yeah, what happened?"
"You f-fainted and hit your head very hard. We sent you to bed straight away, I stayed and had dinner with them. Don't worry, there wasn't anything negative said about you. But what caused you to gasp like that?"
"Just a bad dream. Wait, what time is it?"
"It's seven forty five. You sure you're okay?"
"I'm fine. But, did you say you stayed and had dinner?"
"Yeah, don't worry, we didn't eat the rabbit. He sort of actually..."
She was making movements with her hands, but for all I could tell, she was scooping water.
"you know, yeeted the rabbit dish, and brought in the actual meal. He'll explain when you talk to him during breakfast, and our plan for today"
As much as I didn't want to get out of bed, or leave Chelsea, I willed myself to get up, and meet up with Guy.
I was just rummaging around the pantry when a voice appeared out of nowhere behind me, "Morning James!" With that surprise I hit my head on the shelf in the pantry, "James! Are you alright?"
"Yeah yeah, I'm, fine" it wasn't too bad fortunately.
"Okay, sorry about startling you like that anyway, and I also want to apologise for last night, I wasn't quite expecting you reaction to be... What it was"
I must have looked confused because he answered my question before I had even asked it, "Last night was actually vegetarian, the rabbit was fake. I was doing a small bit of an experiment you see, I wanted to see how you would react to a specifically rabbit-eating situation after everything you'd experienced, for knowledge's sake, but to also make sure Carrie would be safe."
"A little warning next time would be appreciated"
"I could have but that would actually spoil the results of the test if you knew what was going on"
"But, here, let me get breakfast for you and we can finish discussing what I wish to discuss"
Once he had gathered some type of cereal and given it to me, who was now sitting at the island bench in the marble kitchen, Guy began to talk again.
"So, I thought after what has happened so far, I'd make it up to you by taking all four of us shopping"
Shopping...
"Wait, so like, in a mall or something?"
"Exactly!"
Hmm, I should talk to Chelsea about this.
"And by four, do you mean you, me, Chelsea, and Carrie?"
"You got it! So whaddya say?"
He seemed really keen, and he isn't really a bad person. I had to say, "Yeah, I guess so"
"Sweet! Don't worry, you'll love it!"
And with that he rushed off to get ready, leaving me with my bowl of cereal.
