Skye stood there, watching the leaves fall from the small window in her small yet cozy flat. She had a ton of things running through her mind, things she couldn’t even began to start saying. It was fall now, her favorite and least favorite time of the year. She loved the holidays really. She loved watching the leaves change from a dark green to beautiful shades of red, yellow and orange. She loved finally being able to wear jumpers again and boots, finally being able to drink hot chocolate again. Getting lost in her thoughts once more, she was interrupted by a tiny hand gripping the bottom of her shirt.

She had looked down and smiled to see her daughter had woke up from her nap. She placed her cup on the table and picked up the small child.

“Did you sleep well baby?” she asked, placing a kiss on the tiny toddler’s forehead.

“Yeah mummy” she squeaked, getting more awake by the minute. Skye couldn’t help but giggle.

“Ok sweetie, you know the drill. Mummy has to go to work now which means you are going to daycare for a bit” she placed her down on the floor and kissed her head. “Go get your things”

The little girl went back to the room in which she came and shortly later she came running out with a small backpack. Skye grabbed her bag and her keys and hurried out the door. She rushed to the daycare realizing she was running late today. So quickly walked her daughter inside before giving her a kiss good-bye and telling her she will be back soon.

Skye hated working later shifts, but it’s what she had to do.

A few minutes had passed before the doors of the daycare flew open. The 5 lads walked in, smiles on all their faces.

“Hello boys” Amy the daycare teacher had greeted them all. They all replied back at once, making it almost impossible to understand.

“I really need Niall and Zayn for today. Harry, Lou and Liam, do whatever you want” she smiled before taking the blonde and dark haired boys away.

The boys often did this. It was just something they loved to do, and made it a point to come in once a week and help at the day care. All of them adored children and couldn’t wait to have their own someday, but for right now, this would have to do.

Liam had walked off and started playing with some children at a table. Louis stood next to Harry, having a conversation, but Harry was far too busy to even notice. His eyes fell on a tiny toddler sitting in a chair all by herself reading. She had beautiful blue grey eyes that sparkled. Her hair was dark brown and full of curls. Harry was so amazed at the instant connection he felt to that little girl.

He walked over to her, kneeling down in front of her, to be more level.

“Hi cutie. What’s your name princess?” he smiled big. The toddler looked up at him, a huge smile took over face and she looked down bashfully before replying “Hady.”

She couldn’t talk properly yet, which gave Harry the impression she was a little over 2 years old.

“Hello Hattie. My name is Harry” he smiled at her again. To his surprise, she had stood and crawled into Harry’s lap. His heart shattered inside his chest as he lowered himself to the ground, leaning up against a book shelf. She had leaned down and picked up the book she was reading, and continued to read it on his lap.

He watched her carefully as she turned page after page. He watched as her eyes went up and down slowly as if taking in everything that was on the page. She was so small and tiny and was honestly one of the most beautiful things he had ever seen. Her tiny hands moved to the corner of the page and struggled a little bit before she finally managed to turn the page.

He looked down at her clothes and giggled to himself realizing this little girl can’t get any cuter. She wore a tiny grey hoodie, pink leggings and had on the smallest pair of UGGS he has ever seen.

At that point, Louis was standing in front of them, smiling down as his band mate and best mate was playing with this small toddler. Harry had looked up, a huge smile forming on his face. He mouthed “she’s beautiful” to which Louis had responded by nodding and smiling back. Louis’ smile then dropped and his head lowered before he said “We actually have to go. We got called into the studio early.”

Harry’s face fell. He looked down at Hattie. She was still playing and reading her book. His heart broke at the thought of leaving her. Whether he understands it or not, he has a connection with this little girl. He can’t even begin to start explaining it. He didn’t want to leave her. He never wanted to leave her. If he could have it his way, he would adopt her right then and there and take her home to be his. But he knew that was a very, very unlikely thing to happen.

Louis had noticed Harry’s heart breaking right in front of his eyes. He hated seeing Harry upset. Everyone hated it actually. Louis knew what he was about to say next wouldn’t help anything, and could very much hurt even more that what he had already said, but they had to leave.

“Come on Harry..” Louis said quietly.

Harry kept staring at Hattie, memorized by everything she was doing. He was so infatuated with this little girl and he wasn’t about to leave her just yet.

“No, I’m not going. If I get in trouble then so be it, but I’m not leaving her just yet” Harry replied sternly, which took Louis off guard. But he simply shook his head and walked away. He had told the rest of the boys what was going on and none of them seemed to mind. They all took their turns smiling at Harry before walking out the door.
