Two weeks before..

"You're going and that's final!" My mother said as she walked briskly out of my room and down the hall.

"But, WHY?" I asked as I followed after her."This isn't fair and you know it, mom. Are you really finna make me switch schools JUNIOR YEAR?"

As I looked at my mother, I could feel my anger start to fade.

Curled up on our two-seater, she looked small.. and tired. For the first time, I notice the bags under her eyes and I wondered when she got them, and how I didn't notice. Her hair was thrown up into a curly bun and I saw what looked like gray hairs poking through her red hair.

Even though she looked exhausted, I couldn't help but see how beautiful my mother really was. Standing at 5'6" and some change, Dyaine Stellar was slender in the most athletic way, and curvy enough to draw attention in just jeans and a t-shirt. Although she was 46, she could still pass for being in her 20s. Every time she would come to my school to, uh, collect me and my things after a couple.. disputes with my fellow classmates, everyone would always try to spit game to her. At first it was funny.

Until one of the guys asked me to hook him up.. with my mom. After promptly getting suspended for trying to 'cause bodily harm to a fellow comrade', the idea of everyone liking her like that, lost it's appeal.

But, honestly? She really was beautiful. She had a smile that could light up a room and eyes that always sparkled as if she had a secret and wanted to let you in on it.

Out of everything about my mom, there was one thing I went crazy for, and that was.. her hair. She was definitely what you would consider a ' natural red head'.

When I was younger, everyone would tease me about it. They would ask me why she dyed her hair and when I said she didn't, they would always gang up on me and yell that I was lying.

How could a black woman have red hair?

Well, she wasn't born with it, but she didn't box dye it either. She told me one day her light brown hair started to get blood-red streaks in it. Before she knew it, her whole head was red.

I wouldn't have believed her if the same thing wasn't already happening to me. I wasn't complainin' though.

The sound of rustling papers grabbed my attention and brought me back to the present matter at hand. Looking over at my mom I saw her putting some papers back into a folder.

My mother was really shipping me off to a BOARDING SCHOOL.

An ACADEMY.

In EUROPE.

I still couldn't believe she was really doing this.

Don't get me wrong, I had no attachments to PrayerView High. Not a friend. Not a teacher. Nothing. In all honesty, I hated that school with every ounce of me and I made that very well known. Actions spoke louder than words and my actions screamed distaste.

But, that didn't mean I wanted to go to school in a whole different country.

"Mooooooom." I groaned as I threw myself onto her.

"Briiiiiiiii." She mocked me as she put her arms around me.

I rolled my eyes and put my arms around her. I could never stay mad at her for long. She was like my best friend, the only person I really trusted and told everything.
