"And side! Side! Down, hands up! And pose!" I called out each step. Once the routine was over I clapped at the ladies. Reaching over the boom box got turned down letting 'Girls just wanna have fun" fade into the background. "Mrs.Wheeler might I say you're getting awfully toned, who knows you might be replacing me soon." I joke with my friends mom."Well ya know I gotta do something to keep them interested." She says, though I can't really tell if she's joking or not so I just laugh. I pull my hair into a tight pony with my pink fuzzy scrunchi.
"Bye Mrs.Wheeler, my shifts over but hopefully I'll see you next session though?" I question as I pull my Nike duffel bag over my shoulders, I never really bother changing at the gym knowing once my night shifts over I'll curl up in bed after a long hot shower.
"You know it girl!" She calls after me as I step out. I wave to her and the rest of the ladies with a smile as I step out.
This summer job at starcourt has got to be the best thing to happen to me in a while. I wave to all my friends I pass on the way to the food court. I adjust my neon pink short body suit and wink at the boys. Ahh yes, the stare of prepubescent boys begging for a chance. Long story short working at a gym in a mall has plenty of benefits. From staying in shape, totes cute outfits, hot boys, and being able to eat all the junk I want!
"Well, well, well, if it isn't Sinclair, I'd knew you'd come begging back for me sooner or later" a irky voice spoke to me. Scoops ahoy, an ice cream lovers guilty pleasure and unfortunately what seems like the permanent residence of my ex. Steve Harrington.
"Oh give it a break Steve I'm doing better than ever. Plus I was the one who dumped you, remember?" I rolled my eyes.
"I-I well yeah whatever. What do you even want?" He blushed. I smiled momentarily simping for him. I shook my head, no destiny don't fall back into it.
"Two scoop vanilla ice cream cone pl-" I got cut off by a loud voice.
"Is the my favorite babe destiny I hear?" A familiar face stepped from the back.
"Robin bird!" A instant smile spread across my face. To be fair we only met each other a month or two ago but I could tell we if not already would be besties. She reached over the counter pulling me into a hug.
"Is this dweeb bothering you?" She side eyed steve.
"Nope, he was just giving me my cheat ice cream cone, for free hopefully." I gave steve my puppy dog eyes and a pout.
"Yeah yeah on the house. This time only! I can't believe I'm being teamed up against like this at my own job. Do me a favor ladies and let's not make this a daily occurrence." He said going back to being his bothersome self. I rolled my eyes taking my snack from his hand.
I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned around facing a gorgeously handsome boy. I smiled tilting my head at him. "Um h-hi I was wondering if I could get your number?" He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly grinning. I opened my mouth to speak.
"No sorry she's taken." Steve spoke up with a surprisingly masculine voice.
"O-oh really well I'm Brad and if that doesn't work out here's my number, just in case." He smirked handing a small piece of paper with a number scribbled on it. I stood speechless as he walked off.
"Really dodged a bullet destiny he seemed way to cocky." He dragged his y.
"Steve I just want you to know, if not for the public setting I could kill you" I said with a scowl. Just then the mall lights shut off.
"Jeez destiny I didn't think you serious." He scoffed flipping the light switch on and off.
"I don't think that's gonna work dingus." Robin and him went back to bickering.
This was gonna be a long summer indeed.
