Elsa's POV
I took a deep breath as I looked at myself in my full-body mirror. It was Saturday and a long weekend, and it was also the day of my date with Jack.
Jack never told me where we were going but he told me to dress up in something nice, but still comfortable for a night out so I went with a blue denim romper that had an attached belt which I tied at the front to cinch my waist. I also wore a simple gold necklace with a locket on the chain, along with a matching gold bracelet, and for shoes I chose to wear open-toed beige wedged sandals which added a couple inches to my height. I completed the look with some light makeup and let my hair flow down my back, letting the natural waves fall free from my usual french braid.
I wrung my hands together as I stared at my reflection, Is this too casual? Should I have gone with something a little more girly like a dress or something? I thought as I turn my body, looking at myself from all angles, insecurity making its way into my heart.
"Elsa, I can feel your nerves all the way from here." I turned around to find Anna standing in my doorway, leaning against the doorframe with her arms crossed. I let out a deep sigh to release the tension from my shoulders, "Sorry I'm just... this is my first date with Jack, I can't help wanting to look nice." I turned back to my mirror and ruffled my hair to make it look fuller, but the action was also out of nerves.
I noticed Anna appear behind me in the mirror and she placed her hands on my shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze in encouragement. "You don't need to be so tense about it though, you look beautiful no matter what you wear Elsa, and I'm sure Jack thinks the same thing. Especially with how you look right now." She turned me towards her to look at my entire outfit up and down, her face breaking out into a smile of pride. "I don't get how you can pull off any look big sis, by the way can I borrow this romper sometime?" She looked up at me with hopeful eyes, hands clasped together. I giggled at her expression and thought about it, eventually nodding, "Okay fine, but remember to give it back to me when you're done." I decided with serious eyes, she ignored the seriousness and giggled in response then turned around, making her way out the door.
"No promises, Elsie!" She called back to me from over her shoulder, then she suddenly snapped back around towards me and grasped at the doorframe, "Oh yeah, you should probably check the time, he said he's picking you up at eight right?" She questioned, it made me grab my phone to check the clock, it was only ten minutes until he got here. I could feel my nerves coming back until my phone rang in my hand, the caller ID showing Jack's name.
My eyes widened as I looked at my phone, then my panicked gaze shifted to Anna who was making motions with her hands telling me to answer it. Without thinking any further I accepted the call and put my phone against my ear, "Hello?" I asked, my voice small and shy. I cringed at myself and cleared my throat when he responded back, "Hey! So I'm just calling to tell you that I just got finished getting ready and I was thinking that I could pick you up a little early, that okay?" His deep voice said from the other side, it sent tingles all over me but then my brain began to process what he just said to me.
My eyes widened and I was speechless for a second, my reply came out as a small stutter, "U-uh... yeah, that should be fine. I'm actually ready too." I let out a small, awkward giggle at the end of my response. I could hear his low chuckle on the other end, "Alright, cool. I'm heading towards the elevator right now." At that point, I realized something and decided to bring up the question, "Are you still not gonna tell me where we're going?" I asked with a small smile, I could hear the smile in his voice with his answer, "Nope. It's still a surprise, but don't worry it's the good kind."
I let out a small laugh and shook my head, I could feel myself relaxing already, Jack seemed to always have that effect on me. I started to feel a little excited for our small outing, like a little high school girl with her first love. I bit my lip to keep my smile under control, "I'll leave it to you then, see you in a bit." I finished and waited until he said his goodbyes before hanging up, and once I did, I heard a knock on the front door and my younger sister's voice after that.
