A dejected Heejin tried her best to focus on studying, but she couldn't. Every little thing seemed to bother her. The fact her mind was stuck on Hyunjin was only adding to the problem.
Once again, she'd been shunned away without explanation. They were back at square one, with a slim to none chance of going back to normal. Heejin bombarded herself with questions, blaming herself for even trying to begin with.
Time seemed to move slower with Hyunjin by her side. Nothing seemed interesting anymore. Heejin was completely lost without the girl.

I'm an adult, I should be able to take care of myself. I should be able to be enough for myself. But I'm not, I need someone beside me.
Still, I questioned myself on why she'd act this way. It wasn't like her to do this. But at the same time, did I even really know her?
She barely told me anything about herself. All I can remember was me talking and her listening. Somehow, that was enough for me. I miss her, but I doubt she misses me.
Hours later, I completely give up on studying. Instead, I started packing my little belonging into my bag.
"You're going home for break?" Sooyoung said.
"Mhm, I'll leave after exams," I respond.
"Oh, that's cool I guess," Sooyoung said, turning her focus back to her phone.

Hyunjin couldn't help but stare at the sleeping Heejin, who was sleeping in the seat infront of her. She looked as if she was in a drama, the setting sun hit perfectly against her face.
"What am I even doing?" Hyunjin whispered to herself as she rubbed her eyes.
Not matter how hard she would try, Hyunjin couldn't shift her gaze off of the girl. The one thing she'd always liked was watching her sleep. It was the only time she looked peaceful, the only time where she looked like nothing was bothering her.
It was the little things Hyunjin noticed and liked. It was how Heejin could make even the simplest things looked extravagant.
Night was approaching, which meant the sky was getting darker by the minute. Hyunjin woke Heejin for their stop by "accidentally" nudging her shoulder.
The second Heejin got off, she started playing with the hem of her shirt. She had forgotten how dark the path really was. She walked with her head down, as the feeling of fear started returning.
Heejin felt as her breathing begin to hitch. She started to regret not taking her medication. The longer she walked, the more trapped she felt. She felt like the air was being squeezed out of her. Looking around, it seemed like she was alone, making the situation worse.
Feeling a hand slip into hers, Heejin immediately tensed up and tried to shield herself.
"Calm down," Hyunjin said, putting Heejin's hand into her pocket. "Hurry up, it's late."
Hyunjin didn't want to walk to Heejin's apartment complex and back the other way around to her house, but she couldn't let her go alone. So she forced herself to walk.
The walk was silent. Neither of them said a word to eachother the whole walk, they didn't even exchange looks. Heejin had a million questions, but couldn't ask even one of them.
"You didn't have to walk-" Heejin started.
"Yes I did," Hyunjin interrupted. "Go up, I have to go home too."
"Thanks," Heejin whispered with her cheeks the slightest bit pink before walking up.
The next morning, Hyunjin got up early to escape having to talk to see her parents. She went to the only place she enjoyed going to, the train tracks.
She felt like something was missing, as she sat watching the sunrise. It didn't feel the same, it felt lonelier.
"Would've been better if Heejin was here," Hyunjin mumbled to herself.
"Well, Heejin is here," Heejin said, climbing up the side of the cart.
Heejin sat on the side of the cart, letting her legs dangle off the side. She breathed in the cold air, watching as the sun inched up. Every now and then, she would glance to the side where Hyunjin sat.
"Can we talk-" Heejin started to say.
"No," Hyunjin quickly responded.
"Why are you ignoring me?" Heejin asked.
It was even quieter than before, like all ears were on them.
"If you didn't feel the same way, you could've just said so. You didn't have to ignore me," Heejin said.
"Never said I didn't like you," Hyunjin said.
"Then what is it? Why won't you talk to me," Heejin said, her voice getting louder. "Hyunjin, I need you. God damn it, I fucking love you, and you know that. So why are you doing this to me? What did I do?"
"Nothing, I just don't wanna talk," Hyunjin shortly responded.
"Tell me the real reason, and I'll stop bothering you," Heejin said.
"We wouldn't work, I mean look at us. How the fuck can we be there for eachother when we can't even even take care of ourselves? No matter how much you want us to, it's not gonna work. I'm saving us both the pain." Hyunjin explained.
"How would we ever know if we don't try-" Heejin started to say.
"Jesus Christ, I'm really trying to let you down easy. Listen, I don't want to date you, I never did and I never will. Stop wasting your time with me." Hyunjin said, sitting up straight.
She felt like she was drinking acid as she spit the words out. She put her feelings aside because she knew she wouldn't know how to treat Heejin. It hurt even more seeing Heejin's face slowly gloom down.
"I'll stop bothering you then, sorry," Heejin mumbled, looking down to the floor.
"There's someone better for you out there," Hyunjin said as Heejin climbed down the cart.
She nodded before walking off. Hyunjin watched as her figure became smaller and smaller, until it faded into distance.
"Maybe in another life, okay?" Hyunjin said. "I'm okay with waiting."

The climax is such a disappointment 😔
