It's been a week since we've moved and still no news from Kian. I tried breaking up with him on friday but I couldn't, so now I'm just waiting to hear from him, although deep down I know I won't. I haven't started school yet, my mom decided it would be less chaotic if I started after winter break, which I thank her for daily. Now I have a lot of free time, which, when I'm not worrying about my new school or Kian, I spend drawing, writing, exploring the city and hanging out with Matt. Matt's the guy from the coffee place, and I know Kian wouldn't like me hanging out with a guy that attractive, but Matt's my first friend here and since Kian hasn't called me in a week, he's the only one I can talk to right now. Except for Sam of course, whom I've been skyping and texting, mostly to find out what's going on with Kian, but he says he doesn't know either. It's nice to talk to Sam though, since Kian and I started dating I've kind of neglected him and I kind of forgot what a great friend he is.

I hear a knock on my window, and I open the curtains to see Matt sitting on the fire escape, smiling. I open the window and he comes in immediately. "I don't remember inviting you in?" "Oh hush, do you even know how cold it is out there? By the way, It's not like I was interrupting anything." "What's that supposed to mean?" I say, pretending to be offended. "Well, it looks like you were going to spend your day in your pyjama's, sketching." "That's not true actually! I was planning on reading as well!" We both chuckle, I know he means well, I told him about Kian and he knows I don't have any friends here besides him, so he tries to keep me from being isolated, which is nice. "How about this, you go change and I make you breakfast to apologize for interrupting your incredibly busy day?" "I actually thought this was a nice outfit but I guess I was wrong?" I say, smiling. "Wow, I just keep offending you, don't I?" He smiles before walking over to the kitchen. I hear him having small talk with my parents as I grab some clothes. Our friendship has developed incredibly quickly, after a day of talking we found out we have a lot in common, and since then we've been hanging out every day. My parents really like him as well, they don't even mind that I've barely helped them move. I guess they're just happy I have made a friend.

When I walk into the kitchen, my parents have left and Matt's baking some eggs. "So what's the plan for today?" He turns around and puts the pan on the table, then sits down. "How come I have to make plans, I already made breakfast, I think that's enough for today." "Well I'm the tourist here!" "Actually you're not, since you live here and all that. You're just as much of a New Yorker as I am." He smiles and starts eating. "You know what I mean, I have been here for a week! All I've seen so far is like half the neighborhood. I don't think I'll make great plans, unless you just love going to the grocery store." He chuckles, "All right, all right, it's a good thing I already had an idea."

Matt and I walk over to the subway, he hasn't told me what we're doing yet, but I don't mind. He seems really excited so I'm looking forward to find out. We sit down and wait for the subway to arrive. "So what are we doing?" "Waiting for the subway, obviously." "Ha, ha. Seriously, are you going to tell me or not?" "Okay well-" The subway arrives and he stands up. "Come on, I'll tell you once we've sat down."

The subway is crammed, so we have to stand. "I guess this means you won't tell me the plan huh?" He chuckles, "It's a good thing I'm a really nice person." He tells me he wants to show me the busy, tourist part of New York. "I'll basically be your tourist guide all day! Phone's off everyone!" He's only joking, but I find it quite a good idea. I check if I have any messages from Kian, with the obvious result, and then turn it off.

Kian's pov

I haven't talked to Olivia all week, she hasn't broken up with me yet, which is better than I'd expected, but she hasn't contacted me at all and it's driving me crazy. I guess it's partly my fault as well, since I haven't tried to contact her either, but I'm scared she'll break up with me once I do. Sam came over a few days ago and yelled at me for being such a dick, and I don't blame him. The worst part is that I don't even miss Olivia that much. Not as much as I should. I hate not hearing from her, but more because I want her to miss me, than because I miss her. God, I'm selfish. I should call her, maybe then I'll realize what I'm missing. I grab my phone and go to contacts, seeing her name almost stops me from calling her. I click her name and wait for her voice, but all I hear is the voice of her answering machine. Fuck.
