Chapter 3 - Search and Rescue

Y/n POV.
We were following the ink trail for a few days. The farther we walked, the more concerned I grew.
What could they have done with the poor guy? I thought desperately.
I didn't know anything about King Shoutmon, yet I knew who his captor was. So I had an excuse to be scared and worried for him.
Me and Gumdramon barely talked at all during the walk. He seemed more focused around finding his king, I was more focused on finding that blob monster.
Finally, after the few days of walking, the ink trail had began to lead into a cave.
Gumdramon had began to run. He seemed quite hopeful that we were pretty close to finding his king. And, by the looks of it, we were.
"He's close, he's close! I can smell his scent!" Gumdramon picked up speed and ran ahead.
"Wait for me!" I struggled a little ways behind.
I sniffed the air as well, and picked up the dirty inky scent of the blob monster.
We were close, alright.
As we raced ahead, we came to a huge opening within the cave.
And there, at the center, was the blob. Within its inky clutches was a red dragon. It was kind if hard to make him out from a distance, but details became more clear the closer we got. He had ocean blue eyes, blood red scales, a Goldenrod scarf tied around his neck. He also appeared to have on a belt. He seemed to have a stern face (which looked more panicked at the moment) a jagged mouth that made him look a bit scary. He had a mic in his hand and was trying to ward off the blob which, sadly, wasn't ending very well.
"Is that your king?" I questioned... well, tried to question Gumdramon.
"Hey, wait! What are you doing?!" I called after him as he rushed at the blob suddenly.
"This is my chance to get back at it for taking away Ousama!"
"But you don't even know how to fight i-!"
Too late.
He had hit the blob square in the back, which didn't faze the blob at all. The blob had swung around and hit gumdramon with one inky claw, knocking him aside who I guess was Shoutmon.
That's when Shoutmon looked at me.
I felt myself freeze. I looked back at him, feeling a mix of confusing emotions. I felt shy, and a little anxious... Why was I feeling this way?! I don't even know him yet-
"Look out!" he suddenly shouted. I turned around seeing the blob jump at me.
I swiftly dodged it and observed the blob, looking for a way to crack the gem in its core. It seemed a bit impossible, I could never get behind it long enough to damage its gem in this form. I usually do it while they are idle... I was gonna need a distraction.
"I need you two to help distract the blob so I can kill it!" I looked mainly at Gumdramon while saying this, I felt my heart race every time I layed eyes on Shoutmon.
They both nodded and began to attack the blob.
The blob turned its back on me, and I struck my broadsword deep into the center of its back. I heard the succeeding crack of the gem. The blob stopped attacking Gumdramon and Shoutmon and began to thrash around, before collapsing into a puddle on the ground.
"Hey, is everyone okay?!" I ran over to Gumdramon and Shoutmon. I observed Gumdramon, he complained that he was fine and pulled away though. I turned to observe Shoutmon for any wounds. Now that I noticed it, he was covered in scars from the waist up.
"Y-you didn't get those f-from the blob, d-did you...?" I asked shyly, not daring to meet his calm blue gaze.
"No," he chuckled at my shyness. I felt my face heat into a blush.
"I haven't formally introduced myself. My name's Shoutmon, what's yours?"
"I-im Y/n! Also, I know about you already... Gumdramon told me... "
"Oh, right. Troublemaker." Shoutmon turned toward Gumdramon. Gumdramon seemed to shrink under Shoutmon's stern, angry glare. Shoutmon then turned back to me, his gaze softening.
"You seemed to know a thing or two about defeating that blob." he came closer, looking me straight in the eyes. I felt like a deer caught in headlights.
"You don't happen to know what they are and where they came from, do you?"
I gulped nervously.
"I do, actually..."
