Practically Human
Can Stefan see demons, is Stefan a demon? Stefan and I looked at each other for a while, frozen. The bell rang, the teacher started to talk.
"Class we have a new student." Mr. Cake my tenth grade Speech teacher announced while the demon walked out of the classroom.
"No need to be shy, I'm sure they won't, bite." Mr. Cake looked at the door. The demon walk back into the classroom again but he looked a lot nicer his hair was done differently and he wasn't wearing is blood covered shirt anymore; he had a dark brown shirt with a dark blue plaid jacket, and dark colored pants. He stood in front of the class caring a orange backpack with red bud headphone hanging out the side. He looked kind of cute.
"This isn't right, how can people see this demon it's impossible. This should not be happening." I thought to myself. Before I noticed I was standing up, with the class room filled with everyone starring at me. I ran out of the class room forgetting my bag. My eye sight was becoming a giant blur. My body was swaying like a tree on a wind day. Falling into lockers, I bumped into the locker once more and hit my head into one of the lockers by accident. As I fell, it felt like slow motion, or like my body had fallen into a giant bowl of Jell-O. I wasn't sure what was going on, we're the demons succeeding me? My sight went dim, black even. I heard a quiet voice quickly getting louder.
"Katie, Katie are you OK? Katie!" I didn't recognize the boys voice that was calling for me. The demon had caught me before I had fallen to the floor.
"You followed me?" I was really confused no demon would save a human much less a mix, even if I am part demon.
"After you ran out, Stefan ran after you, I'm I little surprised that I beat him hear. Do you need to go to the nurses office?" The Demon asked me. As quickly as I could, I tried to regained my balance.
"How do you know where the nurses office is. Aren't you a new student?" I asked him trying to ask as politely as I could while I tried to hide the fact I thought he wasn't human.
"Oh um, I thought you could see me before now, um I guess you could say I've been here before. Well other than that I think we really need to get you to a doctor, but I guess that would do you no good would it." I was right he was the demon. And he knows what I am.
"I was right." I whispered, "um I guess you're right, a normal nurse wouldn't do me any good." The demon had a confused look on his face. I didn't ask how'd he had come to know the information; that I was a mix. I didn't want to take the chance of him to leaving the school before I could learn now he was able to change so drastically, why he did, and how he was able to let people see him other than me. Before I could finish my thought. James came running down the hall with Stefan running in front of him.
James quickly tried to help me stand so he could lead me to his car. But I quickly reassured him that I would be ok to stay at school. James wasn't sure how to react, he normally believes me when I say stuff like this; but I could barely walk.
"Katie I really think you should "go home", you know what happens when you over work yourself." James looked at me for an answer, but I said nothing. I kindly walked away form James reach.
"See I can walk by myself." I smiled and walked the other direction. The three boys followed me. I don't think James noticed the demon, he might of mistake him for a human, because when James told me to "go home" that's his little code word for telling me I need to release more of the demon energy. Which also mean I had to go find some demon to kill before I was to weak to fight back. If I succeed it would help weaken the demons inside of me.
James isn't the person to disagree with twice and I already disagreed with him once so I didn't have a choice. I was walking into my class room to get my stuff and to my surprise James followed me. James was talking with Mr.Cake. Mr.Cake was a little frightened by James intimidating appearance. But when James smiled and explained a little of what was going on, he realize that James wasn't a scary person.
I tried to ignore the piercing stares coming from all directions. As I picked up my zebra striped backpack an envelope fell out of my bag with something inside of it with and my name written on it. I quickly put it in my bag before James could notice it. He might get the wrong idea. I don't think that would be a love letter, but he might.
After James waved good-bye to Mr.Cake, we headed to the car. Before we walked outside of the schools clear doors, I noticed that Stefan and the demon were standing beside James's car.
"They aren't going with us are they?" I asked James.
