Mission abort

-The Mission-

its been a week since you first boarded the starship, Max is still gone, cliff is a mess, and Chloe is showing some increased interest in you...
you walk out of the small cabin and head down to the mess hall for lunch, every day has been pretty standard, quick morning routine, training, chatting, bed. Today feels a little different though, things feel a bit better then they used to.
As you enter the large cafeteria you look around and see Chloe on the opposite side of the room waving to you, a large smile spreads on your face while you head to her table "how have you been man?" She looks at you and smiles "I've been good, still kind of worried about cliff y'know, doesn't seem himself anymore" you take a seat at her table. "Yeah i get what you mean, i hope you gets better, cause i really don't think the other guy is coming back" she looks down a bit sadly "but hey, cheer up, did you hear what sergeant Morgan was talking about this morning?" You wave your head no "she said we're finally getting off the ship and getting some real world training, i think its a test to see if we can handle ourselves out there in the wild." your eyes widen "really? today? Thats amazing! When doe we go?" She looks down and checks the time "in about 20 minutes actually!"
you quickly finish eating before heading back to your cabin to get ready "they said you can only take sentimental items" Chloe says from behind the corner. You look over to her a bit confused "wait why?" She shrugs it off "i don't know man, makes me a bit uneasy though". Cliff soon enters the room and grabs his bag he starts packing everything he has before Chloe repeats what she said to you "sentimental only pal" he looks over a bit angrily and unpacks, he walks over to Max's bunk and looks around the bag left on it, he pulls out a dopey looking hat and puts it on "there" he says before walking out of the room. You and Chloe exchange looks, pick up your bags and head out to meet the sergeant.
after a long walk down the ship you, Chloe, and Cliff all meet in a large empty room with morgan standing on the other side. "ah, good day rookies, today is a big day, your first real world test. Each of you will be launched out of the ship, me included to guide you, and then face the dangers of the wild for 3 days simple enough right?" You all nod "good" she points to large backpacks on the wall "there are your parachutes, make sure you put it on right or you might meet an early demise hehe" you all look over at the three bags, "where's the the fourth one?" Chloe asks, the sergeant sternly responds "that is non of your concern miss, now if you will please put on the packs" Chloe scoffs before strapping herself up, you and cliff do the same and stand still waiting for orders "alright rookies, good luck out there, and see you on the flip-side!" She pulls down a large lever and a large opening in the floor opens up, showing the lush green forest planet below. "Oh my god" you say under your breath.
sergeant Morgan was the first to jump, then Cliff, then Chloe, then you.....
