Chapter 3: Sunshine will always be warm.

<Route one was chosen last chapter>

I decided to stay another night at Mirio's.
It's more fun than my aunt's, but I just hope my parents are gonna be ok on the drive back...

The thought that something bad could happen lingers in the back of my mind a bit longer...

Mirio smiles widely once I announce that I wanted to stay.

We walked back upstairs to his room while his dad told my parents the news.
I still felt weird, like something was off... I told Mirio this, but he brushed it off.

"You're probably just homesick, Y/N!!" He said while we entered his room.

"Yeah, that might be it... I'm paranoid that something might go wrong with the drive home, my dad's not the best driver..." I sighed and said quietly.
Mirio thought for a moment, then he raised an eyebrow.

"Hey, you know what just occurred to me?- I don't know what you're quirk is!! Oh man I feel like a bad friend for not knowing!! I'm sorry Y/N!!"

My quirk hadn't manifested yet. I was deemed quirkless, like my mother...

I tried not to think about it, since this made me sad- I couldn't be a hero without one...
I told this to Mirio and his smile fell slowly.

"Quirkless?! But isn't your families quirk strong enough to pass on?!" He seemed in slight shock.

Tears prick up in my eyes slightly. He definitely hated me now...

"Y/N, that means that you're actually really rare!! I get to be best friends with someone in the minority of the worlds population!!"
His smile retuned even wider this time.

"Y-you don't hate me?-" I said as I wiped a tear from the corner of my eye.
"Hate you?! Y/N!! Why would you think that!! Doh- don't cry, you'll make me cry!!-"
He said, his eyes looked indeed watery.

He grabbed a box of tissues and handed it to me. I took it with a small smile as I sat down on his bed.

The fairy lights around his room flickered on, and I wiped my tears away.
I felt a warm pair of arms wrap around my shoulders from behind, and a smiling Mirio wraps a blanket around us both.

It's so warm...

"Heh, you really are like the sun... Warm and never fail to bring light in the darkest times... You know what? I'm gonna call you Sunshine, Mirio!" I said with a smile.

He replied immediately.
"Nope, that's gonna be your nickname Y/N!! You can't get out of this one!!" He stuck his tounge out and smiled, hugging me tighter.
"Alright, alright... You're a great friend, Mirio..."

Little did I know this is the last wholesome moment we would have for a while...
