Chapter 5: Murphy's law.

We both went downstairs to eat breakfast, even though it was already 1 pm. Apparently Mirio refused to eat without me awake.
Which I of course appreciated the concern.

"Hey, Mirio?-" I asked quietly.

"Hm?" He turned to me, his mouth full. He swallows and smiles. "Somethin the matter, Y/N?"

I spoke hesitantly, "My body feels tingly… A-and I feel like somethings wrong- I can't shake this feeling…"

He raised an eyebrow, "Tingly? I felt that way when I got my quirk, maybe you might get yours!!"
Mirio punctuated every sentence with a smile.

Quirk? Really? My families quirks are physical, I would've been born with it… Unless it was my great aunts quirk…

"What's your great aunt's quirk?" Mirio asked through another mouth full.

I choked and mumbled, "I d-didnt know I was talking out loud! S-sorry!! She just has the ability to make people-" I finished after coughing. "T-to make people tired- I wouldn't want that quirk, it wouldn't be that useful…"
"What?! That would be totally amazing!! Y/N, any quirk you get, even if you don't get one, would be amazing!! Don't be so hard on yourself!!" Mirio said cheerily.

He always looked on the bright side of things, and I admired this about him-

Suddenly my body froze. Images of my parents getting injured flashed in front of my eyes. The most common was them getting into a car crash.

This scared me. A lot. I burst into tears like any other kid would when they see their parents get severely hurt.

My whole body went limp. My vision cut out.

Everything hurt.

Then, as if I was being electrocuted, everything felt like it was being stabbed.
No, I think I was being stabbed.
By ten thousand tiny needles.
I felt the blood soak out of my arm and onto my shirt. Then I heard a slight yelp.

Everything stopped at once.
I look around, tears in my eyes. We make eye contact, Mirio had tears streaming down his face.
He looked pale and scared.

"Y/N!! W-WHAT HAPPENED?!- Y-YOU SCREAMED-"
The scared Mirio screamed. He pointed to my hand, his entire body shaking violently.

Intense pain flooded my right forearm. I look down and see a fork stabbed into my arm, my left hand clamped around the handle.

I screamed again and yanked the fork out of my arm. I was trembling and sobbing.

Mirio's dad came rushing into the room and I explained my blackout as best as possible as he wrapped my arm in bandages.

Mirio hugged onto me and didn't let go the whole time.

I noticed my blood on his arm and tried to wipe it away coolly, but my arm didn't move.
I felt him shaking and crying onto my side, he was more scared than I was.

Of course he was. He witnessed his best friend stab themselves with a fork while screaming. That had to be traumatizing.

As Mirio's dad tucked the last bit of bandage around my arm, he spoke calmly. "
Y/N, it's gonna be ok… Here, let's call your parents-"
The phone ringing interrupted his words.

"Or they'll call us- It's your Dad, Y/N-"

He answered on speaker.

But the one talking wasn't my father. Or my mother.

"Hello? This is the police, I heard that this couple's child was there. Tell them that they're parents are gone.
This phone has very little power left, but Mr and Ms L/N got into a car wreck in (Two cities over).
The child can stay with you or a family member, or go to an orphanage.
I'm terribly sorry to tell you this.
There was nothing we could do about this. It was foretold. This fate was inevitable. Come down to the station in (city) if you have questions. Please feel free to- *click*"

That was all I remember before passing out again. My parents are gone.

Two weeks later it turned out that my quirk had developed. I had a rare power, and a unique one to my bloodline.

Murphy's law. Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

I know I am the cause of their deaths.
I knew they would crash after all.

A/N:
