The Tale of Empress Hua

九 ~ nine

She picked up one piece of glass and cut my hand.

She stood up and left me. "YAH!" I shouted. "What do you think you're doing!!" I continued to shout. She didn't look back. My palm started to bleed a lot and hurt a lot. I gathered the pieces and I was about to stand up when someone tapped me on the shoulder. I turned around with teary eyes and saw Huang. "Jingfei!! What's wrong? What happened?" He asked and knelt down beside me. I let go of the glass and hugged him strongly.

"Huang, I'm sorry, I don't want to get married to him, he's forcing me, I only love you" I bursted into tears. "I know" he said softly. He wanted to hold my hands but noticed one of them is bleeding heavily. "Jingfei what's this??" He said with a concerned face. "One of the brides did it, I don't know why but she hate's me" I said. "Which one?" His concerned face suddenly turned into an angry one. "Yusheng" I replied. He helped me stand up and brought me to the royal doctor.

"This is nothing serious, it's not that deep so it won't leave a scar" the doctor said while wrapping my hand in a bandage. "Thank you" I said and bowed. Huang and I left the doctor. "You should get some rest" He said. "Okay" I simply said. He hugged me and left. I was walking back to my room when my maids ran up to me. "Miss we are so sorry, we were waiting for you but you never came out of the kitchen. She bowed. "Miss!? Your hand!" They all suddenly got on their knees. "Please punish us" they all said. "No, it's okay, I'm okay it's just a little cut" I reassured them. "Please stand up and let's walk to my room I'm tired" I continued.We all started walking and arrived at my room. I walked in and plopped down on my bed. "I hate this, when will I finally leave this place" I whispered and fell asleep.

Huang's pov

I was furious with the emperor how could he do that to Jingfei. I was walking to his room. I wanted to talk to him. I knocked on his door. "Come in" he said. I walked in and bowed "your majesty, I came here to talk to you about lady Hua" I stared at him. He looked intrigued and smirked "go on what is it". "How could you force her to marry you! She doesn't want to, and did you hear what one of your brides did she cut her hand" I raised my voice. "Who cut her hand" He looked surprised. "Wei Yusheng" I answered sternly. "Is she okay?" He looked a little worried which made me angry. "Yes I looked after her" I said. Now the emperor seemed to look a little angry.

"Listen Huang" he looked at me. "Stay away from lady Hua, you have nothing to do with her" he said in a serious tone. "I'm always going to be by her side no matter what you say" I paused and looked him straight in the eyes. "Because I love her" I turned around and walked out. "YAH! COME BACK, HOW DARE YOU!" He quickly stood up and started shouting at me. "HUANG! YAHH!" He threw his papers at the door and fell back down on his chair. "So that's how it's gonna be" He said under his breath.

End of pov

I was sleeping when I heard the doors open. I quickly sat up and saw Huang. "Jingfei, we have to run away" he said in a serious tone. "What why!!" I had worried face. "The emperor is very angry at me right now, I'm scared I'm going to lose you" he sat down beside me. "What did you do" I looked at him with worried eyes. "I told him I love you" he didn't look at me. "Huang, what are you doing, he's going to kill". "I know that's why we have to run a-" he was interrupted.

"Lady Hua, the emperor is here" one of the maids said. My eyes widened and the doors slammed open. Huang and I stood up and bowed. "Oh look who's here" he said. "Arrest him" he continued. "Your majesty, don't do this" I fell to my knees. The guards came in and grabbed Huang. "Your majesty, please" tears started to roll down my cheeks. "Jingfei it's okay" Huang said as he got dragged out the room. "Your majesty, please stop, PLEASE!" Tears started to roll faster down my cheeks. Without a word the emperor left. Sunyi ran into my room. "Jingfei don't cry, it's okay Huang is strong, he will be okay" she fell on her knees and hugged me. I cried into her shoulder.

I whipped my tears and stood up. Sunyi stood up too. "What are you doing?" She asked. "I'm going to the emperor" I said and walked out. I stood in front of the door. I took a deep breath and knocked on the door. "Lady Hua is here" one of the maids announced. I stepped in. The emperor looked at me and I fell to my knees. "Your majesty please let Huang go" I begged. "No, leave" he replied with a cold hearted tone. "What are you going to do with him" I asked. "Kill him" he said sternly. I bursted into tears "Your majesty please don't, I'll do anything please".

"Marry me right now then"
