Unknown: How did you sleep beautiful
8:45 a.m.
I smiled as I stared at the text message from Declan on my phone, my heart thumping wildly in my chest as bliss filled my body and I clutched my phone against my chest as I giggled. I pulled my phone off of me and texted back.
I slept good, how about you?
8:47 a.m.
It still amazes me that Declan and I never got caught on the beach that day. I distinctly recall Declan grabbing my hand and swiftly tearing off through the woods toward the beach. Once we stopped at the waterfront, I remember that I let out a surprised gasp as Declan lifted me into his arms bridal style and tossed me into the water.
I had resurfaced, murderously angry when Declan dove in next to me. Suddenly, his arm wrapped around my waist as he began to drag me toward the shore.
"Alice? Declan?" I heard Hector's voice as he and Don ran toward us. "What happened?"
I felt Declan squeeze my side, indicating I needed to speak and I mentally cursed him.
"I was swimming by myself and I thought I saw a fin, but then something brushed my foot and-," I ducked my head with embarrassment.
"Alice, we hardly ever see sharks up this far-," Don start but Hector shoved his elbow in his ribcage.
"I heard her scream and I was already nearby taking a piss," Declan had explained, releasing his hold on me.
The breeze from the ocean wafted by me and I cringed, waiting to be exposed when I heard a hearty laugh from Don.
"It's a good thing you were close by, we may have lost Alice to some dolphins," Don pointed out at the horizon. Much to the convenience of my lie, I saw several dolphins leaping into the air a good ways off, their silhouettes were the only indication of their species.
And that was when it clicked. Declan threw me into the water to wash his scent off of me. Clever.
But to the present, I was laying on the couch, listening to Zander gripe in the kitchen about the lack of food we had and while I was also texting Declan discreetly, and Hector as well. Something pretty great came out of that trip yesterday, and it wasn't just Declan and I becoming more sound in our feelings.
Hector had gotten completely black out drunk, but retained bits of information from a girl he was chatting up. In his drunken stupor, Hector discovered that zodiacs and horoscopes thoroughly interested him.
