" Where are you, Y/N? I need to make it up to you.. " I kicked the pebbles along my way down the street from the hospital. My head is rummaging through possibilities about your whereabouts. Could she has gone far from here? Was she real about being discharged.. or she escaped? Let's hope that's the worst thing she could have done.
I was walking down the streets, and before deciding to go back to the apartment, I thought I could use a drink to quench my thirst because the sun ain't playing today..
There's a convenient store located just a few steps from me. The first drink I thought could cool down the heat is a bottle of cold apple juice. As I entered the shop, I headed straight to the beverages aisle and look for some tasty apple juice. My eyes are wilding on the display because hell- there's WAY too much kind of drinks to choose, and I almost forget about my baby juice.
When I was busy searching through the drinks, I heard some faint arguments coming from the cashier counter. I tried my best to find a position where I can hide well and eavesdrop to what they are arguing about. " Just give it to me, will you? " " No, for the hundred times,we don't sell cigarettes to underage like you. " " Who are you to resist?! For God sake just give me one pack already! Don't you think I have no money to pay for this? ". This argument is not gonna end up well, I could say.. I tried to peek behind a rack of candies, where I saw the people who are arguing are a kid in his 15.. and a woman. With a familiar face.
" Seolma (No way).. It couldn't be her, could it? " I whisper under my breath.

This kid won't stop bugging me. I swear this whole conversation is bringing me nowhere but towards countless headache.. " Just leave, would you? Like it or not, I can't sell them to you. Go, have a better plan for your life.. " I look into the boy's eyes with no interest left to keep this conversation going on. He just let out a frustrated chuckle. " Hah.. you really are asking for this, aren't you? " he smiled on the corner of his mouth, and in a blink of an eye, he grasp the collar of my shirt and bring my face just a few inches close to him. My heart was pumping blood through my whole body like crazy because this kid, who's apparently bigger in size than me, could just beat me into a pulp in next few seconds. " So, what now? Are you gonna hand me a pack? " he threatens me by tightening the grip.
In a flash, a guy who came out of nowhere behind a rack, choked the kid firmly. " Really? Threatening a woman for a pack of cigarettes? Let. Go. " he urge that boy to let go of his grasp. I could tell that his face was stern although he wears a face mask.
After a few seconds of silence, that boy finally let go. " Aisy.. This store is really making my day worst, " the boy adjusted his collar, and walked out of the store full of rage. I let out a relieved sigh, because this week has been really heavy and stressful for me. I stared at the counter blankly, still trying to process everything that just happened. " Are you okay? " the guy who saved me breaks the silent. Luckily, there's only two of us in the store, so no one had to witness what a waste of energy the argument was.
" Yeah, yeah.. I'm all fine. I'm sorry sir, you had to be involved just now.. " I bowed down to the guy because I felt guilty for dragging someone into my mess. Swiftly, the guy takes off his mask, and grabs both of my shoulders gently.
" Y/N, I'm asking you. Are you okay? " Kim Sunwoo was the guy who saved me just now. My jaw feels like it drops on the floor, because until now I could not believe my own eyes. I didn't realize that I was not breathing until I let out a slight puff. " That was- nothing.. I've been through hell, so that felt more of a poke to me, " I laughed, brushing off his grips from my body.
He puts a bottle of apple juice on the counter, and without wasting any seconds, I take the bottle and scan for the price. " Only this, sir? " I adjusted my tone as how a cashier should treat her customer, with no personal feelings attached. " Y/N, can we talk? " Sunwoo ignored my question, still staring at my face. " That will be 1300 KRW, sir, " I forced a smile, trying to relax the best that I could. He rolled his eyes, and took out his money to pay for the drink. I proceed on my job, and gave him his balance. " Thank you sir, have a nice day. " I wave goodbye, smiling and hoping that he would get out of this store as soon as possible.
" Please, Y/N.. Let me talk to you. Let me make this up to you. " he steps closer to the counter, pleading me with his soft eyes. I don't know, but I can tell that this is not a lie like the other ones he makes. My heart is aching to let us talk, but my mind is telling the opposite way.
I look down on my feet, and I took a deep breath to look into his eyes. " You wanna talk? Sure, let's talk. " I crossed my arms on my body. And now, I'm all ears to listen to what he gotta say.
