Your  POV

"She has your eyes." I smiled happily, holding my newborn daughter on my arms as Erwin sat by my side on the bed. Erwin chuckled and caressed our daughter's cheek. "Yeah, but she has her mother's charm and beauty. No one knows that better than me." He spoke. I let out a breathy laugh and faced him. "Do you want to hold her?" I pleaded. Erwin didn't reply for a few seconds, as if he's afraid to hold her but then he accepted anyway. I gently handed my baby to his arms, Erwin cradled the fragile baby in his hand, his eyes glued to her purity as he smiles in joy. "Hey there." He said, holding her tiny hand as she gripped tightly on his finger.

"You and your mother are the most important thing to me. My top priority." Erwin whispered to her ear. I couldn't help but let out a small laugh. I leaned into his shoulder, watching him as he interacted with his daughter. "I promise you, I will protect you, I will always be by your side. Don't let anyone tell you differently."

"Happy Birthday, (D/n)!" Hange chanted. It was actually (D/n)'s 5th birthday. I couldn't believe that it's been 5 years since I held her for the first time. Since the day she was born, Erwin made a promise to be by her side and protect her. But I have to say, I'm doubting that. He had been working late. (D/n) rarely saw him, he's always buried with his work, even one time he came home earlier, he shut himself in his study. Even now Erwin wasn't here to celebrate his daughter's birthday.

I tried to call him again, only to be sent to voice mail. I groaned and put my phone back to my pocket. "Mommy!" I was startled by (D/n) clutching onto my leg. "Hey, birthday girl! You ready to blow your candles?" I picked her up and kissed her cheek. "Where's Daddy?" She asked.

I kept my smile and think of an excuse. "Um, I'm sure he'll be home later, baby." I bounced her on my arms before putting her down. "Gather your friends. Its time to blow your candles!" (D/n) quickly ran to her friends.

"Hey, you okay?" Levi approached me. "Yeah, just uh, waiting... for Erwin. You tried to call him?" I sighed. Levi pulled out his phone and shook his head. "He's not answering any of my calls."

"Neither is mine." I watched (D/n) as she sat in front of her cake, her friends gather around her.

"I'm sorry, (Y/n)," Levi said.

"Oh, it's not your doings, Levi." I smiled at him. "It's not yours either." He faced me. He put a supportive hand on my arm before joined Hange and the others.

At night after the party, Hange helped me out to clean the house before she left. And yet Erwin wasn't home yet. He promised to be here today, it makes me sad because (D/n) was expecting him to come. After I tucked (D/n) to her slumber, I heard Erwin came from the front door. "I'm home!" He shouted.

I went downstairs to meet him. "Hey, wheres (D/n)?" He asked. "You're late. Way too late. Again." I replied, crossing my arms over my chest. Erwin's smile faded and he ran his hand to his hair.
