You sneezed, again. You had been since this morning. You blamed the winter for it. You sniffled as you then tried to focus on eating.
"You look pretty pale, Y/n, don't you think you should rest?" Hange asked in concern, putting a hand to your shoulder. You gave her a tired smile, "It's okay. I'm fine. Besides, I promised Erwin I'll help him on his paperwork tonight,"
Hange was about to speak another word but you stood up, cutting her off. "Anyways, I better go. So... See ya." You waved at her. She lifted her hand and you walked off the mess hall. You knew you should be resting, but who would turn down a chance to be with Erwin alone?
So you true your best to stand and walked to his quarters. Hands crept to the wall, you staggered your way to him. Okay, maybe you thought wrong.
As you were about to knock, you hesitated, eyes half-lidded, deciding whether should you enter. He asked you to help him so you felt bad if you ditch him. Still having your knuckles on the door, Erwin came out and spotted you there. "Y/n? Ah, I was wondering when you'll be here."
You opened your eyes and gave him a weak smile. "My bad. Hange was-" You were cut off by your sneeze. Erwin noticed and reassured you, "Are you alright?"
"Yes. Yes, I'm fine. Don't worry about it." You waved your hand, brushing off the topic. "You sure. I can work this on my own if you'd like to rest." Erwin said, more concerning now. He put a hand to your shoulder as you shook your head.
"I said I'm fine. And I'll help you. Come on," You sniffled, trying not to hold your head for how painful it was. Erwin moved to the side, allowing you in. You made your way to the chair across his desk as he closed the door. Just walking a few steps with your burning feet feels like death. Not to mention the room was cold, too cold for you.
Erwin went back to his seat just as you sit on your own. He gave you some papers as you both started your works.
>>>
Most of the time you tried hard not to cough and sneeze in front of him. It only made you feel worse than ever. Erwin noticed you're not feeling well, knowing you would deny the fact of it, he gave you fewer papers that were easy to work on.
"Hey, Erwin-" You covered your mouth with your arm, suppressing the cough. "Do you mind if I take a break for a minute or two?" You asked. It was hard for you to focus even to read a single word. You held your head, giving it a soft massage to ease the ache.
"No. Not at all. Go ahead." Erwin flashed a smile and you thanked him, standing up and walking to the couch. You heaved a breath and plopped down the couch. It wasn't the best but with your condition, you immediately drifted to sleep.
"Do you need anything?" Erwin asked from his desk. He noticed that he didn't get a response, turns out you were out cold. He caught the glimpse of your sleeping form, releasing a small chuckle.
Erwin stood up, approaching you. He kneeled right before you and put a hand to your forehead. "I should've known." He said as he figured your fever. He went out to the kitchen, fetching anything he could find to cure or at least reduce the fever.
Erwin went back to his room, placing down the tray of drink and medicine on the table. He noticed you were shivering a little. And so he decided to put you up to his bed to make you comfortable. He scooped you up and carefully walked to his room, not wanting to wake you up. He gazed at your face, which he was always fond of, and smiled.
'Cute...' He thought, smirking to himself.
Erwin rested you on his bed, slowly taking off your jacket and pulled the sheets to your body. He sat on the side of the bed, watching you sleep. Reaching up to your face, he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. He found himself smiling at the thought of the woman he loved sleeping on his bed.
Erwin went to the door, taking one last glance at you before he continued his work.
>>>
Hours went by and you finally woke up. Groaning, you pulled back the sheet. Until you realized that you weren't wearing any sheet before. You gasped a little when you found out you were in a bed. Someone's bed. Glancing around, you remembered Erwin letting you sleep on his couch.
'Did he took me to his bed?!' You thought. You held your head as you felt a pang. You noticed there's a cold-kit right next to the bed, with a note written in a paper.
'I hope you wake up feeling better. Drink this up before you leave. -E'
You read the note and assumed it was from Erwin. After you took the medication, Your eyes fell to the little light coming out of the bottom of the door. You figured it was Erwin, now you felt bad for slacking off, leaving him with all the work. Bringing yourself up, you reached the door and peeked out.
Erwin was still working as you crept from his bedroom. "Hey, Erwin.."
"Hm? Oh, Y/n, you're awake!" Erwin raised his head from his palm. He stood up, closing in on you. "How are you feeling?"
"Better now, I guess." You mumbled. Erwin tilted his head to the side, giving you a concerned look. "Why didn't you tell me you had a fever?"
"I... Uh... Sorry..." You took a step back, gluing your eyes to the floor. You held your palm to your chest, feeling a blush creeping to your cheeks. "I just... Didn't want to burden you. I guess I did but-"
You were surprised to see Erwin just a few inches from you. Like when did he moved? You took another step back, now your body was pressed to the door.
"You should've told me if you're sick, Y/n. Therefore, I'll be sure of what to do." Said Erwin, taking a step towards you as you felt your heart beats faster. "Oh-kay... I... Um..."
"You're not a burden, Y/n. Never to anyone. Never to me." Erwin spoke in his deep voice. You kept staring at his handsome feature, thinking about his concern towards you.
"Thank you... For saying that." You smiled sheepishly, looking down to hide your blush. "And thank you for taking care of me, Erwin."
Erwin smiled genuinely and leaned down to you. He planted a kiss to your cheek, your face becoming as red as a tomato. "It's always been my pleasure."
