You hummed as you examine the books in your hands, putting them on Erwin's shelf one by one according to the titles. You've been cleaning his office for the past few hours, waiting for Erwin to return. You weren't cleaning like how Levi would. You're just annoyed at how his books were scattered everywhere. He owned a lot of books, what a bookworm he was, yet he didn't even bother to organize them.

Your head turned to the door when you suddenly heard it opened and closed. You found Erwin standing still there, shoulders slumped, eyes glued to the floor. "Erwin?" You called his name.

He didn't move an inch, not even eye contact with you. But then he walked into his bedroom connected to his office, no words coming from his mouth. You knew what this meant. He wasn't angry, no. He got that look which only you knew.

With a sigh, you put down the rest of the books and walked to the door. You hesitated on whether should you come in or not. Eventually, you peeked in.

Erwin sat on the side of his bed, elbows resting on each of his knees, hands buried in his golden locks. You pursed your lips and stepped in, quietly closing the door behind you.

You crept up to him and sat on the bed. You didn't want to break the silence, not until he was ready to speak up. You knew it was hard for him.

Erwin slowly took your hand into his, clutching them in both of his hands as he dragged them into his laps. He continued to brush your hand with his fingers, his lips flattened.

"Tell me, Y/n. Was it wrong...for me to send those soldiers to their graves? Is it wrong...that the path I'm walking now...is made by the fallen corpses?" Erwin mumbled sadly. You tilted your head to the side, finding his eyes. He didn't shift his gaze to you, which mean he was serious. You guessed something happened while he was on his way back that triggered him.

"Erwin... It's not about whether it's wrong or not..." You replied softly, putting a hand to his arm. "We wouldn't make it this far if it wasn't because of you."

Again, Erwin kept silent. As you were about to say another word, he engulfed you in an embrace. He pulled you into his lap, face hidden on the crook of your neck, and his hands clutching to the back of your shirt.

You felt bad for him to have to burden all of the things he thought he was guilty of. You brought your hands up, gently kneading his head. Brushing his hair, you kissed him on the forehead.

You understood his pain, what he'd been through. That's why you wanted to stay with him. And he was seeking comfort from you. For you were the only one who he felt comfortable to open up. And you were grateful for that, for Erwin to have someone he can take off his mask to. Those people often blame him for soldiers dying, insults and such. And he was always put a strong face for them. But when he was with you and only you, he was fragile.

"I'm here..." You whispered to his ear, keeping your fingers between his blond hair. "Lay down with me?" You asked. He nodded slowly as you started to move to the center of the bed. He followed you and you opened your arms. He wrapped his arms around you, his head rested on your chest.

"Y/n..." Erwin muttered. "Will you ever leave me?" He spoke.

"Erwin, look at me." You whispered. Erwin heaved a breath and finally looked up to you. You cupped his cheeks, thumbs brushing his eyebrow. You gave him a faint smile, "I'm not going anywhere."

Erwin didn't respond. He laid his chest back to your chest. Soon, You felt something wet touched your neck as you began to hear small sobs coming from him. Erwin was crying quietly as you held him in your arms. You kissed his head once in a while, whispering him sweet nothings in attempting to soothe him. His body flinched every time he took in a breath and it broke your heart to see him like this.

After a few minutes maybe hours, Erwin finally calmed down. He moved to your side, keeping you close. He locked his eyes at you, giving you a half-smile. You breathed a giggle and snuggled up to him. Eventually, he fell asleep in your arms.

"Y/n..." He breathed. You were surprised to see him still awake. But he was exhausted, you didn't even know if he was even conscious. "Yeah?"

"... Do you wanna get married?" He asked out of the blue. You released a small gasp, looking at his now sleeping form. You didn't know if he meant it or not. "...okay," You said, stroking his hair.

The next morning you were greeted by the morning sun from the curtains. You squirmed and shifted around. You realized Erwin was already awake, sitting down next to you, eyes locked in yours. You sat up, the sheets falling to your lap as you did so.

"Thank you" He smiled, which made you smile as well. He leaned into you, kissing you on your cheek. "Erwin, did you really mean it, last night?" You questioned, suddenly remembering him asking to marry you. Erwin chuckled deeply, "I meant everything." He then stood up, walling slowly to your side of the bed, your eyes never left him.

He knelt down next to you, holding your hand. "Y/n... Will you do the honor of being my wife?" He asked, more seriously now. You gleamed as your smile spread. "Yes!" You said, wrapping your hands around his neck, making you both fell to the floor. He held your back and lightly chuckled. You were happy that he was happy after all that happened last night. You wanted to ask him what happened that made him vulnerable but you wanted to enjoy this moment.
