[Modern AU]
This is a sequel to Chances on my Levi one shot. This is a long one. I wanted to break this into two but eh, screw it.

You had moved on from your previous life in Trost and moved to a small town called Shiganshina. You could say things turned out great. You had a stable job, a nice home, and you raised your daughter, who you decided to name Isabelle, for a year.

"Isabelle, No!" You rushed to your daughter. She tripped in her tracks but before she could land, a pair of hands caught her. You were just getting something in your bag, your hands were full so you need to put her down. You guessed that was your fault.

"Hey, careful there!" The man said, holding her up. You ran up to them and breathed out. "I'm so sorry. Ever since she learned how to walk, she wouldn't stop running away from me." You laughed as you took Isabelle in your arms. You looked up at the tall man and your eyes sparkled.

"Oh, no need to apologise." He chuckled. You were astonished by his looks. Blonde hair, ocean eyes, beautiful eyebrows. Goodness, you felt like you wanted to faint.

"Thank you for catching her, mister..." You trailed off. He raised his brows and smiled at you. "Erwin Smith. Please just call me Erwin." He offered you a hand to shake and you accepted.

"You're new here, are you?" He asked you. You nodded, "Yeah, we just settled in here a few months ago." You let out a breathy laugh. "I'm Y/n, by the way, Y/n L/n." He nodded at your response.

"You look exhausted. Would you like to have a coffee with me? I know a place." You felt yourself smiling and you accepted his offer. You followed him as he entered a small cafe, the smell of coffee hit your nostrils the second you stepped in.

The three of you sat at an empty table and ordered your drinks. "So, what do you do for a living?" You popped a question, sipping on your drink. Erwin shrugged and held his mug. "I'm a professor here at Shiganshina University." He chuckled, looking at you. For a moment, you were lost in his blue eyes. "Oh, how nice!"

"What about you? What made you moved to Shiganshina?" Erwin replied. You raised your head, "Oh, I'm just looking for a new place to raise Isabelle. I heard about this town and just... Meh, I'll give it a try. I work in a daycare, therefore I can bring my daughter. And yeah... It's going well." You spoke up, glancing at your daughter who was fascinated by the view by the window.

"What about her father?" Erwin continued. You froze at his words suddenly, looking down to the table. "Never mind about the father," You sighed, disappointed. Erwin took notice of your tone and understood immediately. "Oh, ... I'm sorry"

"Don't be." You shook your head. He nodded, not wanting to continue with the topic, figuring you might not be comfortable with it. "So, professor? What do you teach?" You propped an elbow to the table, pressing the conversation.

You both talked through the evening. It went smoothly and somehow, you found him rather... A gentleman.

It only took you both a few months until you started dating. You enjoyed his company and so did Isabelle. Besides, he showed how good he was to her and it charmed you. He was better than everything you could ask for. Better than... Levi.

You didn't want to think about him as you shook your head. You prepared a night snack for Isabelle and made your way to her room. You saw the door slightly opened and you saw the sweetest thing you saw.
