I want to explain why I didn't update when I said I would about a month ago, it's simple, I thought I had. I hit publish, but it didnt upload and I never noticed. Sorry. Enjoy 2 chapters as an apology.
The first thing my senses took in was the soft heaviness that seemed to cover my body, the second was all the different smells. Then the noise, more specifically the continuous beeping, next came taste, I was dying of thirst. Lastly, sight. The light seemed to be directly in my eyes, they burned.
A groan that sounded more like a whine came out of my mouth, immediately as if responding to my thoughts the lights were dimmed and a blurry glass of water was shoved in my face.
"Landen's going to be happy your awake, the idiot almost camped out here before I had to kick him out. He was getting in my way." Reaching for the glass it slips throw my fingers, "easy there. Here, let me do it." When the glass was empty it was placed on a table beside me.
Wetting my dry lips I turn my still blurry vision to look at the familiar doctor, "What-what happened?"
He pulls stool out of nowhere and takes a seat, speaking in a much quieter and calm voice. It was easier on the ears. "You collapsed. Scared quite a few people. It would seem you haven't been sleeping." It was more of a statement than question but I shrugged none the less. He hummed in disapproval, "You were exhausted. Your body needed sleep, so it forced you to get it." I nodded; it wasn't the first time.
I sit up and immediately become dizzy, "Not so fast. You been out for close to two days," My head turns too fast in surprise only managing to make the dizziness worse. "Give your body time to adjust." He walks a few steps away before pulling out his phone, most likely to update someone of my condition. Swinging my legs over the side of the bed my eyes shift to the digital clock that reads three thirty-seven pm.
The doctor is back in front of me before I can move any farther, "I am just going to check a few things before you can go, okay?"
A few minutes later Miles comes bouncing in the private room in Pride, "Cupcake!"
I flash him a small smile. Two days. I was asleep for two days. I can only imaging what I look like, let alone how my breath smells. First thing I'm doing is taking a shower, then food.
I was allowed to leave not to long after. And true to my word, the first thing I did after ducking my head and making my way to the elevator was head for the showers. "Mason wants to see you."
"Tell him I'm alright." I don't feel like turning around to see the weird look Miles was no doubt giving me, so I don't.
"Okay... You going to be at the dinner table? You'd be surprised how many people have been asking for you."
I didn't think before replying, "No." With that I shut my bedroom door, effectively ending the conversation.
I took a hot shower in fear if I took a bath I might fall back asleep. After my basic hygiene standers were met I decided I better grab something to eat from the fridge we had on this level. But to my surprise I found a relief stricken, tired looking, yet somehow still insanely attractive Landen waiting for me.
He walked towards me and I froze not sure what was going on although not afraid and to tired myself to really care. I felt almost jetlagged? But the second Landen's arms enveloped me in their grip everything else disappeared.
