Leah's POV

I woke up to the sun being in my face. It was honestly super bright, and kind of annoying. I heard the birds singing from outside of my window, the birds were getting on my nerves; I didn't sleep well due to the agonizing fear of surprising Allie and then finding out that she doesn't even want me as a friend anymore. I yawned and got up off the bed, shivering as I did so. The clothes that I was wearing weren't thick so getting out of a warm bed kind of sucked. It wasn't cold by any means, like I mean it was summertime but still, the house temperature was cool.

"Uggh I better head down and grab something to eat before heading out to go and surprise Allie."

As I walked out of my rented room, I ran into Layla who looked as groggy as I felt. We headed down together, and ended up in the kitchen, where Natalia was currently making bacon and eggs. It smelt so good it was making my mouth water.

"Nat, it smells so good in here, but can I get this to go, I have to get going soon and I don't really want to miss this delicious meal." I know, it sounds a little harsh but hey, come on I really need to get there on time.

"No problem Hun, let me just get this into a container for you while you get changed." Natalia said with a smile. God, I love her, she is the nicest person ever, I kind of wish she was my mom.

I rushed upstairs and grabbed the first thing from my suitcase. A simple blue tee shirt and black shorts accompanied with my sneakers. I got dressed in the quickest way possible. I ran down the stairs with suitcase in hand. I gave a quick shout of goodbye to Layla's family and walked out into the sunshine.

"Ah there's my car, my beautiful car." I said to myself and my car.

The black paint job was making the car very hot inside but I really didn't care. I started the engine and it roared to life. The sound of the engine rumbling in my ears made me smile. If there is one thing that can make me truly happy, that was the sound of my car's engine. I put the car into gear and headed out of the driveway, and Layla's house quickly faded out into the background.

All there was, was me and the open road. The same thoughts I had about meeting Layla were starting to reemerge. I had no idea what to expect, Allie and I were close, and it was like we were un-biological sisters to each other. I shook those thoughts out of my head and turned up the radio, singing along to anything that came on. I didn't even hear my phone going off, until I looked down in the passenger seat and saw the screen light up. Thank god for the caller ID, because I saw my mother's name.

"Do I really want to answer her and maybe let her ruin my day or do I ignore her and hope that she doesn't blow up my phone" I thought to myself. I decided to pull over and answer.

"Do you have nothing better to do than to call me?" I said into the mouthpiece, It was like she couldn't take a hint. I thought that the epic fight that we had four days ago would have been enough to get my point across, but apparently not.

"Hi to you too, I want you to come back, I'm sorry for the things that I've said. I miss you and so does Maddox. You don't need you father, because you have Maddox here for you, he is a lot better than that deadbeat dad Derek anyway." Jennifer said very plainly. She was now desperate, because she is trying to guilt trip me into moving back with her. Is she truly that stupid to even think that I would ever even consider going back to that horrible place with her?

I felt hot rage boil up inside of me; I stepped out of the car, and slammed the car door shut. How dare she call my father a deadbeat? She was the one who left him, she was the one who forced me to leave and she calls him a deadbeat parent. I don't think so, I bit the inside of my cheek to keep myself from screaming at her but it didn't seem to work.
