Allie's POV

"Hey Lea, I have an idea, why don't we cook dinner tonight? I know that dad and Uncle Sam would really like it if we did.

I knew exactly the perfect dish to make, Dad's favorite dish of all time, cheeseburgers and fries, and finally the most important part, cherry pie for dessert. Uncle Sam on the other hand was becoming kind of a health nut. So, I am going to make him a fresh garden salad because he loves to eat what I call 'rabbit food.' Well dad and I call it that. Uncle Sam is always trying to get us to eat more greens because apparently, they are good for us, but the last time that we had a salad we got violently sick because someone didn't read the package *cough* Uncle Sam *cough*. But anyway, I waited patiently for Leah's answer. I knew that she could cook because I saw her do it, so she can't pull the 'I can't cook' card on me because I know that she will be lying.

"Alright Allie, what can I do to help you." Leah asked. I know that she makes amazing burgers, because last time that she was here, she made them for dinner, and they were so good I thought I was going to cry when I found out that there was none left.

"Well Leah, you can make your famous burgers again because they are the most amazingly delicious things that I have ever tasted in my entire life." Leah rolled her eyes at my dramatic description of them, but she smiled and headed into the kitchen to get started. Like I mean come on she knows that I mean it truthfully and she can't deny it. I hurried knowing that dad and Uncle Sam are going to be back by at least 6.

As I made it into the kitchen, Leah had all her secret spices already added into the meat. Is she a ninja or something? because I swear, I was only like 2 minutes getting here. She is going to share the super-secret recipe with me whether she likes it or not. I started peeling potatoes when Leah started to mix the meat and started making them into patties. Dad is so going to love this. Whenever he goes on the road with Uncle Sam, he always complains about the food, the way he describes it sometimes makes me want to throw up. I finished peeling the potatoes in record time and put them into water because I wasn't going to cook them right away. I got a pan from the rack that was hanging in front of the stove and put it on the stove so that Leah could easily transfer the patties from her hands into the pan so then they can start cooking right away. I turned the burner on medium heat, and Leah smiled in silent thanks. As I got the ingredients for the salad out of the fridge, the aroma of the spices that filled the burgers soon filled the room making my stomach growl. I quickly tossed the salad putting in carrots, purple cabbage, cucumbers, and tomatoes. I put that into the fridge and started on the homemade fries. The fryer dinged signaling that it was ready to start putting stuff in. The first batch of fries went in as the first batch of burgers came out. Things were going smoothly, neither of us really saying anything. It made it seem better to know that she was here helping me when she could easily not do anything, but that's not Leah. She would never do that, every time she came over she always cleared the table and helped me with the dishes afterwards.

"Hey Allie, what time is it?" Leah asked without looking up. I glanced over at the clock. It read 5:20.

"5:20pm, why are you asking?" I replied, it is not like her to ask for the time when we were cooking.

"I wanted to make sure that I would get everything done before your dad and Uncle came home, because I have a lot of meat still to cook." Leah said while the second batch came out. I looked inside of the bowl, and she was right, there was a lot left, so I decided to half it and store the rest inside of the fridge for another night. There were already 10 burgers laid out on the plate and there were 4 more coming out. There was plenty enough for everyone. The fries were done before the burgers were, so I started making the crust for the pie. It would take a long time, but it was going to be worth it. Dad's face was going to light up like a little boy on Christmas. Leah took over the dinner part of it and I started to make the pie itself.
